Wordful Wednesday – A Quick Trip to Cambria

Wordful Wednesday 411: Wordful Wednesday is like Wordless Wednesday, except WITH words.  It’s for those of us that just cannot be wordless, no matter how much we try.  Add my Wordful Wednesday badge to your post (right side bar under “WW”) if you really want to make me happy, and then add your post link to the linky below. Easy peasy.

cambria coast

We took a quick weekend trip up the coast a few weeks ago.  It was really nice to get away after the holidays and just spend time together as a family without all the hustle and bustle of toys and shopping and events.

solvang

We stopped in Solvang on the way up and ate our fill of Danish food and then stayed in Cambria for the night.

elephant seals

We sampled Olallieberry (hybrid of a raspberry and blackberry) jam and pie and then drove along the coast, stopping along the way to see the Elephant Seals near Hearst Castle.

kids

After we got home, I posted this picture of my kids on Facebook.  My aunt commented that they were my best work yet.  I think she’s right.  🙂

Have a Wordful post to share with us?  Join us in our linky AFTER you check out Amanda’s Parenting By Dummies and these 4 awesome posts from last week’s linky!  We pick our 4 faves every week to feature and it’s just our way of saying thanks for sharing your moments with us!  Drum roll please….

  11. I can so relate to just needing a few days to chill out after the holidays. Looks like you guys had a a great time. Those seals …. I’ve never seen anything like them in person, they look pretty relaxed 🙂

  12. I feel like we need a vacation from the holidays too, but alas, nothing quite as fun and spectacular within a short distance from us. Looks like you guys had a blast though. And Danish food? I need to get me some! I don’t think I’ve ever had it. I wonder what it’s like.

  13. Aw, I love Solvang! Have fun memories of my first time there when I was barely 17 without a drivers’ license and my mom let me drive the car 🙂 But shhh, don’t tell anyone!

  14. I agree! best.work.ever.
I have to add this stop to my places-to-visit list

  15. Your aunt might just be right!

I have no idea where you were but it does look like a pretty cool place to check out! Our family vacation isn’t until March (Disney) but sure wish that we could get away for a weekend or something before that.

Thank you for featuring my post from last week!

  16. Indeed they are; they’re gorgeous, Angie. I know I say that often and probably sound all stalkery, but don’t worry; you’re far enough away to not be THAT worried.

  17. What an amazing trip and what a great idea to spend time together as a family after the holidays. You do make some gorgeous kids too!
