{My Twins}

I’ve always been fascinated with twins. Even before I had twins.

When I found out I was having twins, I immediately wondered if my twins would have their own secret language.

I really, really wanted them to.

If you call biting each other constantly their own language, then they had one.

But, I’m pretty sure NO ONE would consider that their own language.

I was pretty bummed when it became apparent that they spoke to each other just like they spoke to everyone else.

I was all prepared to be the first to decode their language.

But, no.  No such luck.

However, they do do some pretty crazy “Twilight Zone” things that both delight and freak me out a little bit.

For example:

Last week Jacob fell on a magazine rack and popped some blood vessels in his right eye.

Not to be outdone, John popped a blood vessel in HIS right eye.

Now, they didn’t do it the same way, but they both did it in the same location in the same eye within a week of each other.

Weird?  I think so.

If they can’t have their own special language, I guess they can have this.

Or I can.  However you want to look at it.

THANK YOU ALL SO much for your wonderful BIRTHDAY WISHES!

When I was little I always wished I had a twin so we could dress alike!
The twin thing is pretty interesting. I’ve heard stories of twins who were separated at birth, meeting each other later in life and finding out they’d held similar jobs, named their kids the same names, and just let very parallel lives. Fascinating!

It’s better than nothing, right? LOL.

Your boys are so cute. I love their red hair. I’m totally jealous.

Twin injuries. Just what all moms dream of. NOT!

Maybe that was a sympathy boo-boo, which is kinda like it’s own language, right? But I would tell them that when they want a “sharing moment” to keep it away from the face and head.

That is AWESOME! (When folks ask us if our twins had their own language, I with no wee bit of remorse reply, “If they could claim English as ‘their own’ I guess….” 😉

    Happy Happy Belated, Sweet Angie!

My boys freakishly do things like that too. Liam injured his big tonail last year and it had to be cut off, that same week Tommy’s big toe nail fell off for no reason at all. No one could believe it.

That is probably one of the most remakable stories but I have tons of them!!

Oh, and my boys did have their own language. remarkable!

So they dospeak their own language. It’s just one of boo-boos instead of words. Still pretty impressive! =>

I really, really, really want to have twins. Mostly because my husband only wants two children, and I want more than two, so this way I would win instantly!

Your boys are so handsome. I love their hair. At bedtime, my twins will crawl really close to each other, and fall asleep. It’s so cute.

    Hugs and Mocha,

There no bond like the one between twins. It’s still very weird though and happy belated birthday to you!

  13. 13

My boys loved to sit in their cribs and look at each other and have their own conversations. this could go on for an hour sometimes. It lasted until about 2 1/2 years old. AFter that they spoke more English than Twin to each other. There are days they play with each other and start communicating and I have no idea what they are saying. It’s not that often anymore.

I think it delayed their actual speech. twinship is facinating for sure!!!

    Oh, and Happy birthday Angie!!!!

  14. 14

Please ask me this question about the special language b/t my triplets all the time. Mine don’t have it either mainly because I think they are too busy fighting with each other.

That is kind of freaky! My mom went to a psychic when we were kids. The psychic said that I would have twins. I always hoped she would be right, but she wasn’t.

Spooky stuff. I watched a documentary on twins and it was fascinating, especially what goes on between identicals.

I used to teach preschool, 2- and 3-year-olds, and one year there were twins in my classroom who actually did have thier own little language with each other, and even had their own names for each other — Ah-do and Da-do. They were pretty amazing little boys, I missed them like crazy when they moved away!

There is still time for them to develop their own language. Indeed, twins are most fascinating.
