{How to be a FABULOUS mom}-guest post

Photobucket

Let me introduce “E”, one Fabulous Mommy.  You have to go read her “About Me” section.  Like, right now.  In her words, just a few reasons why I love her:

I am a freelance writer who thinks “One day I will write a book…” but I’m not sure if I think that way because I think I should think it, or because I believe it.

I am a Spinning instructor, who’s super-sweet attitude and smile make up for the fact that I. Will. Kick. Your. Butt. In. Class.

But, above all else, I am constantly reminding myself that regardless of what I’ve done and where I’m going, I am me. I have a self, and it is fabulous.

How to Be Fabulous Mommy

I get countless e-mails from women asking me, “E, how can I maintain my fabulousity and be a Mom? It just doesn’t seem to work?”

Well, ladies, I am here to tell you it can work. In fact, if you follow these 5 tips, you too, can be a Fabulous Mommy.

Get Target Sexy

Remember when you were single and you would do things like buy matching bras and panties from Victoria Secret just for a date with your now- hubby?

Do you remember spending $60 on a Wonderbra, only to get pregnant while wearing said Wonderbra, and not being able to fit into said Wonderbra ever again? {Okay, maybe that last scenario is true for just me…}

Ladies, it’s time to get Target Sexy. Yes, I have a slight obsession with Target. Why?

Target has Spanx.

And $12 bras.

And matching cotton undies that come in packs of three.

And Starbucks.

Oh yes, ladies, I am bringing the sexy back… at Target. Come with me, we’ll buy polka dotted tank nightgowns, baby formula, snacks for lunches, and get a latte at Starbucks – For less than the price of a Wonderbra.

Repeat after me: Black is Slimming

I know, taking care of the kids, the house, work – it can be overwhelming. Well, there’s one thing that should not be overwhelming: Your Wardrobe.

Wear black all the time! After all, you’re in mourning for the life you once had without spit up and stains and sweats. Go with the “funeral look” to make a real statement about fashion – and Motherhood!

Embrace the stains

Don’t let a silly spaghetti sauce stain or formula drip ruin a perfect outfit. Use it to your advantage as a mark of motherhood. It’s a tough job, why not show that you can get a little dirty?

And, if you’ve discovered an “old” stain after putting on an outfit you look incredible in, just pretend it’s not there! If someone has the audacity to point it out to you say, “Oh, this JUST happened when I was on my way out of the door! Can you believe it? I had no time to change!”

Chances are, they’ll nod with a “Been there, done that” look. And you? Just bought yourself more time before doing a dry cleaner drop off.

Booze it up

Because you’ve earned that glass of wine {or four} tonight.

You got through another day managing a household, appointments, dinner, work and keeping the kids out of harm’s way. ‘Nuff said.

Buy multiple pairs of big sunglasses

Why? Because they hide a multitude of sins like dark eye circles, pimples, no time for makeup, and tears when you drop off your child at daycare. {Yes, I am speaking from experience here.}

You have a lot to be proud of, so kick up your feet, smile at your accomplishments, take a look at your gorgeous self and repeat after me: Mommy’s Still Fabulous!

*And don’t forget that a little comment love goes a long way in winning a few of my favorite things!

    Your advice is wonderful…which figures, because you are, indeed, fabulous!

  16. I am embracing the Embrace the Stain concept. Actually, I have no choice but to embrace the stain — usually something with peanut butter. The other day I discovered at lunch time that I had oatmeal in my hair — thanks to my daughter. I am not sure if my co-workers were being kind by not mentioning it, or if they are so used to seeing me Embrace the Stain that they thought this was just the next step along the same road.

  17. I LOVE “E”….and her tips are Perfect! I am totally laughing about the $12 Target bras, because that is exactly where I get mine! Love that sassy picture. 🙂
