Educational iOs App Reviews by Balefire Labs + {giveaway}

Even though my kids are back in school and their free time is at an absolute minimum, they still want {and can absolutely make time} to play on their mobile iOs devices. Now more than ever, I want to make sure that if they are playing on their iPods and iPads, they are playing something educational.  I don’t want their brains turning to mush.  So, when Mom It Forward introduced me to Balefire Labs, I was absolutely thrilled.  Balefire Labs offers objective reviews on thousands of educational apps so that I don’t have to worry about paying for an app that isn’t what I was hoping for.

About Balefire Labs:

Balefire Labs finds and trains individuals who are committed and passionate about the education of children.  They use a “scientifically validated process that includes fourteen separate criteria based on two key metrics: instructional design (ID) characteristics and usability“.   This means the reviews are unbiased and transparent and you don’t have to worry about downloading an app that comes up first on a search because the developers paid a lot of money to get it there!

What I Love:

You can compare and contrast apps once you’ve narrowed down your field by age and subject.  It’s super helpful to me to see the comparison once I’ve narrowed down the field!

How It Works:

Balefire Labs

Using Balefire Labs is SO EASY.  All you need to do is log in and sort by subject and age.  I’m super interested in getting one of my 7 year olds a spelling app, so I selected Subject:  English/Language arts, and Age:  8 Years.  Voila!  I didn’t have to do anything else buy review the apps that popped up and decide which app would best meet the needs of my son.  How easy is that?  Each app has a Balefire Labs Review, a Publisher Description and App Screen Shots.

Comments

  1. I like that it helps you determine the most educational app for your child. I have apps now that I thought would be good but really have no meaning.

  2. I love that I can search for the appropriate apps that will actually be beneficial for learning and helping my children with homework. I just might learn something new too! {ha}

    I like that you can narrow results by age and subject.
