Wordful Wednesday 411: Wordful Wednesday is like Wordless Wednesday, except WITH words. It’s for those of us that just cannot be wordless, no matter how much we try. Add my Wordful Wednesday badge to your post (right side bar under “WW”) if you really want to make me happy, and then add your post link to the linky below. Easy peasy.
I’m sure you are probably wondering why in the world anyone would post a picture of a sink full of dirty dishes. Trust me when I tell you that it wasn’t easy for me to take the picture, or post it.
Anyone who knows me well knows that having a sink full of dirty dishes like this just about did me in. The past 2 days have been a lesson to me in patience and something else. I don’t even know that there is a word for it.
I wouldn’t say that I am OCD about cleaning, but maybe I am. I don’t have to have have things just so, but I guess I do. I don’t like to have dirty dishes in my sink. Ever. I don’t like to have stuff on my floor. I don’t like to have a dirty house, and having dishes pile in my sink while I waited for my new dishwasher to get installed and I didn’t have water in my sink almost did me in.
I think I’m growing though because I almost lugged all of the dishes into my bathroom to wash them by hand in the bathtub with hot water but I didn’t. I knew Jeff would install my dishwasher when he got home from work and surely I could wait just one afternoon, right? I made myself wait to see if I could. And I could, but it was hard. I DID NOT like having those dirty dishes staring at me.
I surely didn’t.
Luckily I didn’t have to wait that long because I am not a patient person. I wonder if patience is an attribute I’ll ever attain?
I highly doubt it.

Hmm. Well, I USED to be more motivated to clean. Not anymore. I love a clean house, but I can’t figure out how to do it all anymore. Sigh.
Good job on waiting! I usually shove all the dishes in the dishwasher and leave them there until I need something and then remember that they’re there still. But no water at all in my kitchen sink would have drove me crazy… I would have just hauled it from the bathroom!

Oh Angie, that would do me in too! lol Glad it didn’t take too long to get the dishwasher in!
So nice to be by here… it’s been sooo long. 🙂

Glad you got your dishwasher in quick.
We don’t even have the counter space for that, but I’m guilty of piling throughout the day…but it does get to me.

Sadly, I think that gene skipped me. And with that, I have to stop procrastinating and go tackle my own pile of dirty dishes. Where are the house elves when you need them?…

I know EXACTLY how you feel! Seeing a pile of dishes in the sink automatically gets my mind thinking about how long it’s going to take to clear them away and then how delayed the rest of my schedule will be because of it! *sigh* I’m glad you’re ‘growing’, but I hope you don’t ever have to go through that again! 😉 LOL!
Glad you got your dishwasher up and running. Your post made me laugh. 🙂

Oh, Lordy, that would do me in.
I also cannot stand having clean dishes stacked in the drying rack overnight. Nothing like waking up and seeing a whole pile of dishes I now have to put away.
I am a bit of a neat freak…it is my kitchen floor that I cannot seem to keep clean, and not just because it is the most hideous floor you have ever seen and so it looks dirty when it is clean…that, or it still is. When we moved here a year ago, it looked like this (I’m temporarily in a rental while we live overseas) but now I’m thinking the old woman who owned the house just couldnt see well, and it is ground in dirt, not the coloring of the grout. *gags*

I can be patient with some things… but others, no way…
I think some have it and others dont..
Now, when do we get to see your pretty new dishwasher? 🙂

Hope your dishwasher is up and running by now. Gorgeous granite countertop, BTW!
What a great pic of you and your mom! I remember when I first heard the dreaedd “C” word! It’s amazing to see that no matter what kind of cancer you have, it still hits everyone like a ton of bricks!
Yup, that’ll do it. You have my appreciation.
I thought I’d have to read a book for a discovery like this!
When you think about it, that’s got to be the right answer.
I appreciate you taking to time to contribute That’s very helpful.
It’s like you’re on a mission to save me time and money!
Hallelujah! I needed this-you’re my savior.
Back in school, I’m doing so much learning.
That’s the thinking of a creative mind
That’s going to make things a lot easier from here on out.
That’s not even 10 minutes well spent!
I’m impressed by your writing. Are you a professional or just very knowledgeable?
That’s an expert answer to an interesting question
IJWTS wow! Why can’t I think of things like that?
I’m so glad that the internet allows free info like this!
This info is the cat’s pajamas!
I’d venture that this article has saved me more time than any other.
You’ve really helped me understand the issues. Thanks.
Kudos to you! I hadn’t thought of that!
It’s like you’re on a mission to save me time and money!
Such an impressive answer! You’ve beaten us all with that!
I LONG for a dishwasher. It seems like my sink is NEVER without a few dishes in it.

I feel the same way!!!!!
Oh my gosh!!! I totally hear you. I feel like I do dishes all day long- but really, the alternative is just letting them sit there all day. Can’t do that. I admire your will to see if you could just let them sit. Congrats on the new dishwasher. That must have felt GREAT when it was ready to be used!!
My husband wishes I was a little more like you when it comes to dirty dishes. I have gotten better over the years, but there is still a lot of room for improvement! Also, I wouldn’t suggest praying for more patience or it will be the stove or fridge next 🙂
That really IS a big pile of dishes! I AM the dishwasher over here – have never had one, but hope to someday! So I do dishes about five times a day to keep them from piling up! Happy Wednesday,
s
I hate waking up or coming home to a sink full of dirty dishes but if I am home, they can sit there all day.

I just KNEW this was going to be a post about your kids not doing the dishes and you trying to see just how long it’d take them to undo the nastiness (or at least, AT THE VERY LEAST, get bothered themselves that it looks this way). I can’t talk, though. I will leave dishes sitting, then get mad when I have to scrape off dried up pancake batter. I will wash what I need, then leave the rest there. There are papers on my dining room table and magazines on the floor (because I’m going to read them one day if you would just leave me alone for longer than 2 minutes at a time I’d be able to read the dang March issue!). Whew. I feel a lot of anger this morning and I’m pretty sure it’s not just the dishes (but they’re a big part).
I used to be unable to go to bed with dirty dishes in the sink, even just one bowl and spoon from the fudge track ice cream we’d shared the night before. Now? I haven’t had ALL the dishes clean since Sunday. There is always something sitting waiting. It may not be a lot, but there is at least one plate that has been there that for some reason I keep looking at then walking away from. Why is this plate mocking me and why won’t someone else just wash it?

BTW, back when I was anal (not that you’re anal, Angie :o) ) and our sink broke, I did actually wash a few dishes in the bathroom. It wasn’t the most hygenic thing to do, I suppose, but my husband needed additional tools/pieces and the kids needed to eat, so…

Oy. I can’t handle a sink full of dishes. Dog hair dust bunnies wafting past? Meh. Dishes, though? They make me bananas.

I give you so much credit for staying strong. That must have been awful. I would go crazy. Glad it was fixed up fast!
Brooke says you vacuum more than once a day. In my book, that’s OCD. LOL. Lucky you though, you could have an OCD which made you check and recheck locks on doors and windows! At least w/ this one, your house is always spotless. In fact, I wish I could have that OCD. My house keeping skills get worse and worse w/ the depression. Which makes me more depressed. LOL.
Cool new dishwasher? Loads itself? 😉
