Wordful Wednesday-Puppy Edition

Wordful Wednesday is like Wordless Wednesday, only WITH words. It’s for those of us that can’t contain the chatter, but in a good way. More info. in my tabber box titled WW on the right. Thank you for playing along!

I had every intention of writing all about my Florida vacation for today’s post.

But then my life changed, and I can’t let this Wednesday pass without introducing you to the newest member of my family.

Meet “Bisco”.

He’s the puppy that I’ve been putting off bringing home.  He’s a poodle, Shih-Tzu, cocker-spaniel mix.  We prefer to call him a designer breed, not a mutt. He’s also almost 12 weeks old (in case you were thinking this post would not be complete without that information).  🙂

I was secretly hoping that my kids would forget that I promised them a dog for Christmas.

They didn’t, and I can’t believe I’m saying, this, but I’m actually glad.

I didn’t know that puppies could be so, well, trained.  He hasn’t had one accident in my house.  He doesn’t whine when he gets locked up in his kennel for the night.  He hasn’t chewed anything but his dog toys.  He is so easy going and allows the twins to lug him everywhere.  When he’s tired he goes straight to his kennel and takes a nap.  He amazes me.  Seriously.

He’s a dream, really.  As far as puppies, go, I mean.

I’m smitten.

Don’t use the bathroom in my house, Bisco, and I’ll love you forever.

Don’t forget to hop on over to Amanda’s place to see what she has to be Wordful about.

  1. You really thought they would forget?

From a non-dog person, that one’s a cutie..and the fact that there are no accidents. That might or might not give him a leg up on my kids!

  2. Designer breed? LOL That is good!

    He is adorable!

  3. Aww, what a cutie! My 8-year-old has been promised a dog when she turned 8 (a promise made years ago when ‘8’ seemed really far away). We did amend the promise to ‘the summer after you turn 8’, and she is now (literally) counting down the days. We’re looking at a Shih Tzu mix too – but with a Bichon Frise.

Can’t wait to read all about puppy-raising – I need some good tips! 🙂

  4. He’s so cute!! Where is he from? About three weeks ago I got a 2 year old Pomeranian from a rescue and I am so in love. 🙂 I admire you for going the puppy route – they’re cute, but I could never do it! Give me a “toddler” any day! LOL

  5. awwww… he’s adorable 🙂
Isn’t it nice when something the kids want turns into something that warms your heart too 🙂

  6. Bisco is a cutie addition to your already cute family! I will not make the puppy promise to my kids until they stop using the bathroom in my house without needing my assistance. Potty training then puppy training! Lol!

  7. I’m a non-dog person too, although I know dogs are cute. just look at Bisco!
so I go with cats, and I just lost one baby cat, last night…

  8. he is adorable! congrats & good luck! Having a puppy is like having a baby!

  9. What a cutie! You were lucky to find one that was already house-trained!

  10. He is really charming – I think his cuteness is a survival mechanism just in case he does have an accident. Enjoy! I want to see photos of the kids with him.

  11. He is so cute!!! Welcome to the world of dog ownership!!

  12. What a cute puppy! My boys would love one too.

  13. And he’s cute too! (By the way, we have a Shih Tzu and they have the best temperment… sounds like he got some of that for sure!)

  14. He really is cute. My kids would DIE! (in a good way, of course)

  15. Awe! I love him!! So cute – where did you get such a well behaved puppy! That is my biggest thing with a puppy – I don’t want to deal with the accidents – hence we don’t have a dog yet…
    He is adorable!

  16. Oh my heavens, did you ever luck out in the puppy department! Don’t know how could get mad anyway, accident or not, at a face that smooshable!

    Happy Wednesday!

  17. How did you wind up with the perfect pooch?

Our first dog looked exactly like that, ‘Boots’.

Glad he’s a good doggy. I may one day relent…

  18. He’s cute! What a good little puppy!!

  19. Sooo sweet!

  20. Bisco’s adorable… and just a dream puppy! 🙂

  21. Awww – he’s adorable! My kids want a small dog, too….but truth be told, the one we have just about puts me over the edge. I told them we need to wait until this baby is at LEAST three for the next one. Mean mommy.

  22. Bisco is a cutie…I can see why you’re smitten! :>:>

  23. OMGosh Bisco is soo cute!! I love him!! My girls want a little dog soo badly. I lied and said you aren’t allowed to have more than 2 dogs 🙂 LOL.
I would love him. I bet he doesn’t shed either???

  24. Sounds like you picked a good one! I hear that “designer breeds” are more mild tempered and don’t have health issues like pure breeds can. He is a cutie! I bet your kids are just beside themselves.

  25. Awww he is absolutely precious!

  26. OHHHHHH I want one! 🙂 http://flowerphotography1.blogspot.com/

  27. Ohhhhhh! I want want 🙂

  28. Bisco called. He wants his sister. Her name is Sunday. She looks like a big yellow lab but she’s really Bisco’s twin. Come and get her.

    Please?

  29. Oh, holy cuteness! What a sweetie pie. He sounds like an awesome addition to your family!

  30. Awwwwww…How could you not love such a cute bundle of fluff?! So cute!!!

  31. That adorable puppy can’t possibly be real! He’s just too good!!!

  32. That puppy is beyond cute! Here’s hoping your “accident” record remains!

  33. This is my first time visiting and I can’t believe I have never been here. I read your interview with MTDL and headed right over. I also have too many kids to make attending blogging conferences easy and an addiction to expensive jeans. Great to meet you. Oddly enough I just posted my first Wordful Wednesday post ever (have done the Wordless but Wordful is much more my style) so I linked up. Okay, sorry for writing a book in your comments, have a great day.

  34. You are so lucky to get a dog with no accidents. We have old dogs and I can’t imagine getting a puppy again. We did take in a 5 year old lab a month ago though but she is totally potty trained – thankfully because that would be big messes lol 🙂 Congratulations! Welcome Bisco!

  35. I love the idea of a “designer breed”:-)

  36. Oh, what a sweet, sweet puppy. You guys look really really good together.

And please keep writing about how easy it is to have a puppy because then maybe I can convince myself that I need one too.

It does seem like the thing to do in blog land. 😉

  37. Well, you made it almost to Valentine’s Day before that Christmas promise came back to “dog” you!!

Glad it turned out so wonderfully for all of you – Bisco is a cutie!!

  38. He’s SO adorable! I want one! But….I have enough little ones running…..eh…crawling around right now. LOL. So, I’ll have to live vicariously for now. 🙂

  39. He is ADORABLE! Those ‘designer mixes’ always seem to be the BEST dogs. 😉

  40. He’s got some mischievous looking eyes. If I remember right, you’re a purse fanatic. You might want to throw in a P.S. to your clause, you know, to stay away from the purses…I would!

  41. oh my! You have your hands full with all that cuteness.

  42. Cute puppy! That does sound like a dream! We thought about getting a puppy last yr. but I couldn’t handle it I think, so we got a kitty. If I could get one like Bisco, I might change my mind. 🙂

  43. oh. my. word!!!!

  44. I love dogs, I love house-broken ones even better

  45. He is seriously adorable! Congrats.

  46. CUTE puppy!!

  47. oh my he is a cutie just remember that when he has that first accident in your house 😉

  48. He’s adorable! Will he stay small and curly like that?

Babies do nothing for me, but chickens and puppies? Oh my ovaries!

  49. That has to be the cutest puppy ever!

  50. OMG….cute puppy! He looks so “snuggle-able”!

  51. such a cute one..you remind me of my puppies back home..

  52. What a cutie! I’m very impressed, I didn’t know puppies could be so good.

  53. He is adorable. You should bring him home.

  54. He is so cute – puppies are hard to resist. Ours was lucky she was so cute – I wouldn’t have been able to deal with the frequent middle of the night bathroom calls if she wasn’t. 😉

  55. joining today..lovely puppies!

  56. I got the exact opposite of your little puppy there. In every way…

    Sure is a cute pup!

  57. I can’t believe how well trained he is. I really miss our puppy – darn husband’s allergies got him sent to live with my sister’s family. He’s adorable.

  58. You are WAY nicer than I!

  59. My wordful wednesday entry isn’t words… more like… noise! Check it out here http://35daysamonth.blogspot.com/2011/02/oh-look-instant-party.html

  62. Didn’t you forget my WW post a few weeks ago about the puppies….I warned ya!!

    Cute puppy tho!

  63. i bet you are smitten 🙂 i just LOVE your hair, gorgeous!!!

  64. Looks like you are well on your way to some serious puppy love. 🙂

  65. Aww! What a little cutie patootie! I have a dachshund named “Brisco”.

  66. Cute doggie!!!

  67. Oh! what a super cutie!!
enjoy your newest family member : )

  68. Hmm. After fiascos in potty training, and many many diapers each day, a puppy sounds nice. No whining, no crying, and the beautiful inability to say “no.”

    Yes please. I’ll take one.

  69. Shutup.

I do NOT want a dog. And as far as I’m concerned the ONLY one who will honest to goodness REALLY take care of a dog is the mom. So until I WANT ONE.

    The answer is no.

But I’ll watch you and yours instead.

  70. Testing for new avatar. LOL

  71. catching for my entry..first time i saw a pure black nice puppy!

  72. I have to click off your entry lest my kids see it and start demanding the dog I promised them last year when we moved! I’m so glad your experience is going to smoothly. He is adorable.

  73. that is such a cute puppy
you are lucky with the no accidents!

  74. Perfect name for a very cute puppy! 🙂

  75. neat idea!!!

  76. My daughter (4) is desperate for a dog. I told her we’d get one when no one else in my house peed on the floor. (We’re potty training her triplet brothers who are 2.) It could be a while.

    Enjoy that cutie!

    Christy

  77. He is SO cute!!! You’re brave, though. I don’t like the little presents those super cute puppies leave throughout my house!

  78. Now he is adorable!

  79. So glad to hear that he is such a good little puppy…and adorable to boot!

  80. Oh, he’s a cutie. And already housebroken? Maybe I could trade in my toddler for a puppy…

    I kid, I kid.

    Sort of.

  81. What a cute puppy! Can’t show my kids this post…they have wanted a pet since they could speak…but living with “Bubble Boy” husband, it is not meant to be.

I LOVE that you have a WORDFUL Wednesday…I have been posting my own Wordless Wed., but not linking them because, well, they always have WORDS! 🙂

  82. That’s the condition for puppy love in our house too!

  83. If I could be assured that I would get a puppy like this one, I would totally do it! I just know ours would be the kind that you could write an entire blog revolving totally around it’s obnoxious antics!

  84. BISCO!!!! Okay, I’m in love.

    I want my own Bisco!

  85. Okay, seriously how in the world did you end up with such an awesome puppy!?! Very lucky indeed.

  86. Wicked cute pup. Our mascot is 7 and still feisty as ever. A yellow lab. Not sure what the heck we’re going to do when it’s time for a new one.

  87. GF, congrats! Bisco is adorable! We did the new puppy thing this summer and I *never* thought I’d fall in love and then here I am, adoring my sweet puggle! You both look happy and HOORAY for well behaved, sweet puppies! 🙂

  88. Bisco is beautiful!

  89. What a cutie! Maybe he can cone over and teach my two dogs (5 and 6 years) so if his tricks. They could learn a thing or two.

  90. I wouldn’t mind a dog like that! I’ve never wanted one because we’ve never had much luck with them… Seems like a great dog! 🙂

  91. Hello Angie!!!! I have been out of the cyber-world for several months and have missed you!!! What a perfect post to come back to, he is adorable. We must be on the same wave length, I actually got a dog for the kids 3 weeks ago too, I think I was insane at the time, but it has turned out to be a wonderful experience, she is a dream dog and every one loves her.

I am happy for you and the kids, I bet they adore him!

I will try to call soon, just to catch up with everything… take care.
