Wordful Wednesday ~ My Take on the Desert Modern Dress by Shabby Apple

Wordful Wednesday 411: Wordful Wednesday is like Wordless Wednesday, except WITH words.  It’s for those of us that just cannot be wordless, no matter how much we try.  Add my Wordful Wednesday badge to your post (right side bar under “WW”) if you really want to make me happy, and then add your post link to the linky below. Easy peasy.

I wear dresses every week to church and every once in awhile {every once in a LONG while} I find a dress that I love so much it’s almost criminal.  Last week one of those dresses {that I love so much it shouldn’t be legal} came in the mail and I swear to you, I could live in this dress, probably because it’s made of jersey cotton.  Made by Shabby Apple, and called Desert Modern,  it’s a modern take on a vintage look (think early 1980′s) but with updates that make it both more comfortable and more flattering.

Here’s What I Love

  • First and foremost, it’s comfortable!
  • It looks really cute on.  It’s the ultimate maxi dress, don’t you think?
  • The kimono sleeves come up to the arm pit (unlike most kimono sleeved garments) so you don’t need to wear a tank top underneath so your bra doesn’t show when you lift your arm.
  • The top is double layered  so there aren’t any weird flaps flapping around.
  • I’m 5’7″ and the length is PERFECT on me.
  • It comes in numbered sizing for a more precise fit unlike many S, M and L sized dresses.  I ordered the dress in my normal dress size and it fit exactly how I expected it to.
  • The shade of grey is perfect for just about any skin tone and any event.  It makes the dress super versatile.  It can be dressed up for a snazzy event or dressed down for a casual affair.
  • It makes my waist look small.  And, I’m fully aware that that is a vain thing to say, but after birthing five kids, I’ll take any garment that accentuates in a good way an area that’s been stretched to lengths that make me downright uncomfortable thinking about.

Au Contraire, my friend, I’m sorry to contradict, but your waist IS small! That dress looks fab on you, like it was made for you. Only wish my waist/tummy post twins was so similar.

What a cute dress, and you look fabulous in it. I have a whole slew of jersey sundresses that I pretty much live in all summer long. I’d never make it through a hot Israeli summer without them!

Well I have to admit after seeing you in this dress I scooted right on over to shabby apple and had a window shopping spree. So many choices. The dress is beautiful on you. I have never in my life ordered a piece of clothing over the internet. With the results you’ve shown here, maybe I should give it a try.

Seriously hawt mama!!! That dress looks fantastic on you. I have a red dress with black flowers on it from Anthropology. I wore it to BlogHer in 2010. Ironically, it is my favorite dress but I only wore it one time. There were WAY too many photos taken of me in it. I need to wear it more often.

That is a fantastic dress. I like wearing dresses to work because they are easy and professional. I have a couple that remind me of an updated 70′s style. Love them. I wish I could find some more.

Ok, I LOVE it on YOU, but what will it look like on ME? I think my belly to boob ratio is slightly opposite of yours. Dang kids.
