Lake Arrowhead is a fabulous get away if you live in Los Angeles. Nestled in the San Bernardino Mountains, it’s about 50 miles from our house and located at about 500o feet, so the view of the valley is spectacular and it’s high enough to escape the smog. Lake Arrowhead has a cute little village with shops and restaurants where you can get (among other things) ICE CREAM and duck food, and spend a lazy day without the hustle and bustle of the city and suburbs. We spent the day there this week and had a great time above the smog line!!!
What hidden gems do you have in your neck of the woods?

As summer rushes towards us, this week we’re featuring some great summer-y type shots! Like this intense picture of a focused softball player, a perfect outdoor summer scene, another outdoor shot that just screams “SUMMER IS HERE!”, and a great 50 Things to do This Summer list you can copy if you want.
Looks like a very gorgeous place!
It sure is beautiful there. I don’t know if there are any “gems” here. I haven’t found a way to fully escape the smog and ick. When you climb stone mountain, you can get above it and see it settled on the city. Eww.
ugh. that smog is icky. didn’t know there was a lake up there. fun.
Oh how fun! That first shot looks so magical! 🙂
WW: Pond Star
Looks like a wonderful place to visit.
That looks like a blast! Bring on the summer. 🙂
Arrowhead is not that far from us. And this looks like so much beautiful fun! May have to consider it…
These are great shots you shared! I’m not sure about any hidden gems around here. I’m gonna have to look. Have a great week.
You live in a beautiful area. Great pictures. Your family is beautiful!!!
we wish we had hidden gems near us…
but come by next week, i will show you what we did today 🙂
Looks beautiful!
Michigan is full of hidden gems like that. Little quaint towns on the great lakes or hidden back near an inland lake. Even during the winter some of them are still fun places to visit although I prefer the warmer weather.
