Ice Skating

My girls received ice skating lessons as a gift for Christmas.  Every Saturday since the beginning of 2012 we’ve spent a lot of time at the rink for their lessons and free skate time.

It’s been really fun to see them go from being super unsure on the ice to gliding around and doing “stuff”.

And one of the best parts?  They get to hang with their cousin and have a little girl time.

One of these days I’m going to rent a pair of skates and join them.  I think.

When was the last time you went ice skating?

Have you been over to visit my co-host Amanda at Parenting by Dummies yet?

And, as a special thank you to you for participating, we’ll be linking up to 4 of our favorite Wordful Wednesday entries from the previous week ech week! Be sure to visit them as well.  I guarantee they’ll love the visit!

  1. Ohhh I can’t wait to hear about it when you go skating!
    So much fun!!!

  2. You should do it! I think it’s been about 10 years for me, but I would SO go if there was a rink nearby!

  3. We went right before Christmas. Dumb Dad & #3 hated it. #2 must’ve fallen a hundred times but he loved it anyway. #1 has been numerous times but he’s still not really a fan. Me? I’m pretty awesome at it. Of course:)

  4. Thanks so much for hosting. Skating looks so fun, it’s been years…and years and years, since I went skating. I should go, I have a lot more padding now if I fall. Ha! Have a great day.

  5. That looks like so much fun and what a great Christmas present!!

  6. Girl time is the best, especially at their ages, especially with family.

I haven’t been ice skating in at least five years, since my oldest was in first grade maybe. I took lessons when I was her age, for three or four years so I wonder if it’d all come back to me (like riding a bike. Even though the first time I rode a bike after 10+ years I fell and skinned my knees like I was three).

  7. Awwww man. I haven’t been ice skating in YEARS. Can’t wait for my daughter to be old enough to skate. Looks like so much fun!

  8. How fun, I haven’t been skating in years!

  9. Oh I haven’t been in so long – I think ninth grade! But I loved taking ice skating lessons when I was younger – I wish I would have kept up with it!

  10. How fun! I just adore that red hair, so pretty.

  11. Oh how fun! I wish we had a skating rink in our area – it’s been years since I’ve ice skated…doubt I’d be super wobbly if I tried again! 😉

  12. How fun! I have only been ice skating once….a long time ago during a school field trip.

  13. Looks like GREAT fun:-)

  14. We took the kids ice skating this season… it only had a 50% success rate. But still was fun.

  15. I used to go ice skating all the time as a kid. Then somehow 20 years flew by and I had 2 little boys of my own who wanted to try it. I brought my sons ice skating for the first time when they were 4 and 6. I had to hold them up on their skates the whole time. But I was surprised that it all came back to me, and I was able to skate fast, and backwards, and impress my kids 🙂

  16. What a great Christmas gift!! And I have not been on ice since I was probably their age… 20+ years ago! Eek

  17. That brings back memories for me! I spent a lot of time as a kid ice skating. Of course, I haven’t been in probably 20 years and would probably break my neck now! It looks like your girls are having a wonderful time! Also, thanks for featuring my post from last week!

  18. What a great gift! You should definitely join them at least once, you will feel like a kid again. :-]

  19. Fun! Looks like they are enjoying themselves!

  20. I’m a terrible ice skater! But, I really want to do it again too so I can go with my kids. 🙂
Side note: What collage program are you using for your photos?

  21. Oh.. just do it! It’ll be a lot of fun and once you have the skates on you’ll quickly remember how to skate!

  22. I haven’t been in SO long, although I have gone roller skating, but it’s not the same…

The girls look great out there and you should definitely join them! 🙂

  23. What great Little GNO !

It has been maybe 11 years since I’ve last went ice skating. I need to do something about that.

  24. Love the pictures. I haven’t been ice skating in ages and we were just talking about it today. We might take the kids ice skating.

  25. I and Ibit tried it once. I don’t think I will ever do it again. I just fell and got up and fell and got up and fell and fell again before I got up hahaha…
but you should try it Angie!
