Wordful Wednesday-hitting the jeans lottery

*Wordful Wednesday is for those of us that like to showcase a photo(s) but that just can’t seem keep our mouths shut about it(them). If you’d like to play along, post a photo on your blog, and let the words roll. Feel free to “capture” my 7 Clown Circus button on the left to link back to me, and be sure to add yourself to Mr. Linky. Thanks for playing along!

I’m an unrepentant jeans snob.

Well, that’s not exactly true. I feel guilty saying that out loud. It sounds amazingly close to bragging. I’m pretty sure it is. But that guilt doesn’t change anything. I still only buy and wear designer jeans. If it’s a sin, I’ll repent later.

For now, I have to tell you about hitting the jeans lottery…..sort of. There wasn’t much gambling involved.

Craigslist was the conduit by which I found the deal of my lifetime. For less than a tenth of their purchase price, I obtained a pair of Hudson’s, a pair of AG’s, a pair of Joe’s, a pair of Bebe cords and 2 pairs of Citizen of Humanity jeans.

All I had to do was trust that the seller would actually send me the jeans after my check cleared.

What’s that saying? “All’s well that end’s well?”

It ended well. Oh so well.

How funny……I was just talking designer jeans with a friend. She was asking if designer jeans were really worth the money. I wouldn’t know cause the most I pay is for Gap jeans!

But if the fit well, I say they are worth it! I love that you got such a great deal. 🙂

  2. 6

    Scary Mommy says

Craigslist is wonderful. I do more selling than buying, but I just turn the money around and go shopping, so it’s all good. 🙂

  3. 8

    Brenda says

Then you need to come and visit me. Right across the border from us in Brazil is a store called Pura Mania, who also is the manufacturer of Diesel Jeans. My daughter buys a pair there every year and I know for sure she has had two of them for over 8 years. The only glitch is that you need a Brazilian butt for them to fit you . . . 😉

  4. 9

    Sparkette says

Good for you! I recently heard a story on the news of a lady who trusted someone and didn’t work out so well on Craigslist. There are good people out there 🙂

    Hootin' Anni says

I live in jeans! I so love these colors you have. And the more I wear them, the more comfortable they get.

My Wordful is just how cold it is here…and there’s proof. Oh, and a couple of slices of blackberry pie I’m raffling off today [just kidding!!!!!]

Come on over. But make sure you’re wearing something warm and wuzzy!!!

    Deb says

so you didn’t have to go meet any creepy strangers in dark alleys? i may have to give this craig’s list a try.

can you see how green with jealously i am? you better be modeling one of these for friday’s what are you wearing.

  7. 18

    Live.Love.Eat says

Wow, then you’ll love this. Or hate it actually, that I only own one pair of jeans. One pair!!!!! I don’t know what it is. I am just the worst girl when it comes to jeans. I don’t go out and buy them. But that is my goal in 2009 to have at least 4 pair I like. Oh, there is one pair at the tailor I am getting hemmed. That makes 2!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. 20

    Jacki says

I just read an article in a magazine highlighting all the great deals on ebay…snagging designer duds on a fraction of the cost. I never thought about searching Craigslist. I’ll have to browse the ads…

  9. 22

    mommaof4wife2r says

this is fun! and i seriously need to get some “make the belly look good pair of jeans! i love the ebay thing…craig’s list too! smiles…

    Eudea-Mamia says

    Oh lucky, LUCKY Girl!!!

1 – because those totally rock.

2 – because you didn’t have to try them on with bad lighting.

  11. 30

    Susie says

Oh hooray for you! I’m so glad it all worked out.
Now, just a little FYI, either I’m a total ‘band’ geek, or I just suck, because I have never heard of those jeans!

Does CK still make them-because he’s the one I know.?

Yeah, I know. I’ll take the help;)

  12. 32

    Amy says

We all have our thing! I love Craigslist, Freecycle, Cheapcycle and eBay — there are so many things that others do not want and that I LOVE!!! Glad that you hit the jackpot!!!!

    A magical WW to you!

  13. 35

    Kelly Deneen says

You did hit the jeans jackpot! Nice!! I will have to hit up craigslist for some clothing. Great idea. 🙂

  14. 37

    Kacey R. says

Not only am I MAJORLY jealous of your awesome score! I’m even more jealous that they look so teeny tiny! LOL

Selfishness aside, I’m still happy for you! :o)

  15. 38

    hippos toes says

Wow, lucky you!!! I used to buy a lot of my son’s clothes from Ebay when he was an infant. Looks like I need to check those out again :).

  16. 39

    Jill (Sneaky Momma) says

Awesome score on those designer jeans!
I’ve been seeing ‘Wordful Wednesday’ on my bloggy friends blogs for months. Had to come check it out! Thanks for doing this. What fun!

  17. 41

    The Pink Potpourri says

i LOVE craigslist! although i’ve never sent a payment…i’ve always gone in person. but that’s how we’ve gotten a majority of our furniture!

  18. 44

    Jaysi says

Wow! That is so exciting for you. I can’t say I have ever purchased jeans on craigslist, but maybe I should check it out.

There used to be two girls in Phoenix who did jean parties. They would bring racks and racks of designer jeans to your house. You could buy any pair for $90!! They have left their “business” and opened some sort of spa. I have often thought I should contact them and ask them how they did it. I miss the “parties”.

  19. 52

    Julie says

I'm impressed! I wish I could buy clothes without having to try them on first… 🙁

Wish I could participate today, but your meme is too popular & I don't have time today to read everyone's blogs. 🙁

My post today would totally fit, but I just don't feel right signing up on Mr. Linky & not reading other people's blogs. Gotta play fair! LOL!

    Have a great day!!

  20. 53

    Saundra@ItalianMamaGoneCrazy says

My rather large, protruding derierre (sp) hasn’t been able to fit into a pair of jean since before kids.

    I am jealous… I hate you…

I feel so much better now!

    Have a lovely day!

  21. 54

    Saundra@ItalianMamaGoneCrazy says

{{wink}} {{wink}} on my above comment.

    I don’t hate anyone… well that’s not true… but you know.

  22. 56

    April says

That’s hilarious…I think I’m the opposite with jeans. The only designer name I recognized was Bebe’s. LOL

  23. 58

    CanCan (MomMostTraveled) says

If those were mine, I would get a little high from the memory of what a bargain they were every single time I wore a pair.

  24. 60

    Jay @halftime lessons says

    Look how tiny you are!!

I couldnt get one butt cheek in your jeans.

Not…that…I want to try on your clothes.

Or any woman’s for that matter…

    Ok…I’m off topic again…dammit…

  25. 63

    Nicole O'Dell says

    Great deal!

Ps. #82 in your linky was a mistake. I pasted the wrong link and accidentally hit enter. sorry!

  28. 70

    KatieZ says

Angie, you are a lot like me! I only buy designer jeans. Everything else can be whatever, but the jeans…they have to be designer. I guess because of the way they are made, or maybe because of the way that I am made. Either way, I am a pant snob too!

  29. 73

    Jen says

Jackpot! (Side note, that word always takes me back to the day that I found out I was having triplets. Jackpot is what the doctor said when 3 beating hearts came up on the ultrasound screen.)
Those are awesome jeans! Will you be modeling them for “What Are You Wearing?”

  30. 74

    brunger bunch says

You are a lucky girl! I forgot to tell you, I loved your article in the ensign. You should be very proud of yourself. It was great!!

  31. 76

    Heather says

I guess I am totally not a jean snob like you because I have never heard of these brands. 🙁 That actually makes me feel sad. 🙁

  32. 79

    girlytwins says

I am oh so VERY jealous right now. As you are aware I share your same sin for the love of designer jeans. I too will only wear designer jeans. My hubby always jokes that if there was a fire in our house he would run in and save my jeans 🙂

That is a rocking deal. You lucky girl!!

  33. 81

    ParentingPink says

I am a fellow jean snob too, I’ll admit it. My deal of a lifetime was when I found a pair of Seven for All Mankind jeans at Marshal’s marked down from $198 to $60. Not too shabby. BUT something tells me you got a way better deal than that! Never thought to check Craigs List for jeans before, but now I know the secret! Thanks! Happy WW!

  34. 84

    Kathleen says

What a great find, and I love the colors too.

There’s nothing wrong with buying designer jeans…I think you pay more because they fit better and last longer.

I need to check Craigslist more often!

  35. 85

    Stephanie says

Never thought to look on there! I know my sis has found great jeans on ebay. I’m one that has to try on though….but I could really use some new jeans, and a deal would be perfect!

  36. 86

    Elaine A. says

You’re so lucky to have been able to get jeans off of Craigslist. I HAVE to try on first because jeans and I have a love/hate relationship, especially when it comes to fit!

Get find Angie. Have fun wearing them!

  37. 88

    Kally says

Sweet deal!!! I always love getting a good deal on great jeans. Never thought of checking out craiglist though.

  38. 93

    MomMega says

Awww man, I am JEALOUS!! What an AWESOME deal. I am a sucker for designer jeans, too. They just fit so much better!

Megan @ Hold it Up to the Light says

To say that I’m jealous is an understatement! Seriously?!! I am just praying that I can fit back into my designer jeans someday soon!!!

  43. 105

    WheresMyAngels says

Who? Who? Who? Who? lol Yeah, I don’t know many brand names these days.

I own one pair of jeans (that I can fit into that is). When I was skinny, I liked them. Now that I’m a plus size, they don’t feel as good. I’m a skirt and slacks woman.

  44. 106

    Are You Serious! says

♥ Yay for craigslist. The state of Montana is all under the same "territory" for Craiglist… It's not to big out here… (yet I hope) 🙂

  45. 107

    Coachdad says

I am on Craiglist all the time… trying to sell golf clubs as we speak on there. As a single father, can’t seem to find time to ever play. Love your photo idea… think I will try it next week.

I couldn’t agree more. Hudson are my favorite, but my seven skinny jeans have been perfect for stuffing into boots and dealing with our snowy weather.

  49. 117

    Mark and Kiss says

Hooray for Craigslist. Don’t have a clue about the jeans, but you look great in anything you wear Angie.
