Wordful Wednesday-Florida Vacation Issue IV

Wordful Wednesday is like Wordless Wednesday, only WITH words. It’s for those of us that can’t contain the chatter, but in a good way. More info. in my tabber box titled WW on the right. Thank you for playing along!

Our hands-down favorite beaches to go to in SW Florida are on Sanibel & Captiva Islands.  For a $6 toll to get on the island and a buck an hour for parking, one can enjoy a handful of public beaches that are slightly different.  Our favorite beach was on Sanibel, called Blind Pass.  It must be the best place to collect seashells in the United States.

I’m not even exaggerating.

We brought home amazing, amazing shells.

I am now a shell hoarder.

These are not your garden variety clam shells.  Oh no.  Florida Fighter Conch, Lightening Whelk, Cockle, Tulip, Olive and Jingle shells are just a sample of some of the shells we collected there.

See what I mean?  This is just a sampling of the shells I have around my house from Blind Pass.

Don’t forget to hop on over to Amanda’s place to see what she has to be Wordful about.

Also, please join me in the Blog Frog Communities Memories In Motion Forum.  Since you are here for Wordful Wednesday I know that this community is right up your alley.  We discuss all things pertaining to Memory Making, and there are excellent giveaways. It’s just a really great, inclusive place to spend time!  Plus, I’m a Community Leader, so it looks really great for me to have my peeps join me there, you know? 🙂

  29. my kids would go crazy for those shells! we come home with just as many from the beach but not fancy like yours 🙂

  30. Great pix! I live in North Florida but have not (yet) been to Sanibel – the West Coast of Florida is so nice – still a bit less unspoiled than the East (and great shells of course!)

  31. Loving the shells!

  32. Florida does have the most amazing shells! You did a beautiful job decorating your house with them.

  33. I LOVE your shells and the ways you have them displayed! I have more than just a little sun-envy right now! Gorgeous pictures, sweet friend! XO

  34. I’m a shell hoarder, too. This is one of the passions I love sharing with my kids. Searching the beach for booty is just fantastic. Can’t wait to see what we bring back from Turks and Caicos after spring break!

  35. Never ever found any shells like those! They are very pretty.

  36. Those are really awesome looking shells. I like how you are using them as decoration around your house.

Glad you were able to use them for great decoration and a way to remember that trip!

  38. oh, I remember this well from returning from our trip to the Outer Banks last summer – I still have all the shells in the garage (I’m mean and wouldn’t let the chidren bring them into the house)

  39. I love Sanibel – But I already told you that. I love that when you bring home shells from a trip you are almost instantly transported back to your vacation when you see them, touch them. I love shells!! 🙂
    Happy Wednesday!

  40. Beautiful shells. I always wanted to go to Sanibel. Never did get around to it, despite living in Central Florida for years.

By the way, thanks for this Wordful Wednesday. I just discovered your blog and this delightful Wednesday feature. 🙂

  41. Wow, those shells really are fabulous!

  42. wow. That is am awesome collection and what beautiful shells too!
It’s very rare to find much more than clam or scallop shells in NJ… maybe an occassional conch.
(of course, now that I’m in PA, we find cow pies instead. haha 😉

  43. Angie, Angie. Why do you amuse me so much?

  44. gawd – did i really just link up twice? i think i need to go back to bed! i LOVE these shells. i’d be making a photo frame with them !

  45. Ohhhhh, I love that shiny blue shell in the first photo!

  46. Those shells are awesome. I’ve never found anything remotely that cool at any beach I’ve been to.

  47. Summer dreams!

  48. They are super cool….however they would look SO out of place up here in our frozen tundra! LOL. 🙂

  49. We’re headed to Amelia Island for spring break, I hope the shells are as beautiful in the NorthEast of Florida as they are in the SW! Great pictures and great memories Angie. Thanks for sharing.

  50. WHAT??? They LET you take them home? CA. is LAME. The beach we went to had a million signs telling you not to take their LAME sea shells home. Kate spent the whole afternoon collecting these pathetic little clam shells only to be told she couldn’t take them with her.

  51. They are talking about snow here again. I could use a little sand between my toes and seashell collecting right now. *sigh*
