If I’ve said it’s once, I’ve said it a million times: my kidlets are growing up way too quickly. Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s so nice to be done with the diapers and bottles and strollers and such, but at the same time……
I’m so not ready to acknowledge the fact that my babies just aren’t babies anymore. Any of them. I guess my children will always be my “babies”, but these babies are getting independent and before I know it…..well, off they’ll fly. And it’ll be wonderful, I’m sure. But in the meantime, when I see evidence of this (notice that #5 lays out his clothes for school down to his under-ware and socks?) that so clearly shows they don’t need me as much as they used to, well, it makes me a bit sad. You know, on the days when it doesn’t make me really, really happy.

I said the same thing in my post, and I just have an 8 month old. I can’t imagine what I’ll feel when I’m in your spot a few years from now. P.S. You have one stylin’ kid – love the outfit!
You have taught them well!! Laying out their clothes for the next day! We do that as well, but my kids need nightly reminders. You should be so proud!!
Oh my goodness, these little snippets of independence just kill me! My oldest is 16 years old and he shaved for the first time next week and I literally cried. Like a big baby.
Okay, so I really want them to grow up but watching it all unfold is a little sad sometimes…
WOW! The only times we’ve been able to foster this kind of motivation have been when there’s a special school spirit day the next day…

Mine is getting huge. I think his feet grew an entire size in the past two months.
I will gladly send my mine, just until they are fully potty trained! =)

I haven’t chosen the clothes for Jellybean in several years. Friday is her last day of elementary school. It sounds so final…and grown up. :'(
I can wear my oldests shoes. Thats when it hit me – he’s really big now!

I can totally relate. Up until just a few months ago, I picked out my boys’ clothes everyday (underwear and all). I had a system so I made sure they didn’t wear the same outfit too often or have mismatched clothes. Those days are now over. They’ve grown up to chose their own clothes. That’s not to mean I don’t still give my suggestions!

Oooo, he does have some style! Isn’t motherhood a crazy ride? We want them to grow up, but not too much. Lately I have been wishing I could freeze time. My 9-year-old is getting too grown up for her own good, and I am not ready for her to edge closer to the teen years. Freeze! Freeze! Why can’t I freeze time? lol!

I love how his underwear is between the clothes instead of on top, like mom would do it… you know, so they don’t forget to put on the new CLEAN pair! 🙂 I *hear* you… my kids are growing so fast, but it’s kind of nice too, like when they come downstairs and make their own bowl of cereal instead of waking me up for breakfast!
Growing up, but good kids! Picking from a pile on the floor would be a different story! Momma’s influence is still there! = )

Oh man, I can totally relate to this! I keep telling Princess Nagger to please stop growing – she tells me to stop blinking. Neither one seems to happen! 🙂

It’s bittersweet, isn’t it? Every task they learn to do without you makes you proud but at the same time you want them to stop growing up!
That’s better than me when I was a kid! I would search the laundry pile for clothes….the clean laundry pile….because the clothes rarely made it back into my closet or drawers. 🙂

Awww, I’m sure that’s bittersweet. I’m looking forward to my daughter being potty trained and able to always feed herself and all of those things, but I’ll miss it when she won’t let me hold and snuggle her anymore. *Sigh* They really do grow up so fast.

I have to say that’s pretty awesome. My oldest is only 7, but I still have to pick out every aspect of what he wears. I say it’ll be nice when he does it himself, but I’m sure I’ll miss being needed in that regard when it comes.
Ay yi yi! You have a baby that big? We started potty training in earnest this week with our 2.5 year old and I have SUCH mixed feelings. I almost said we should wait a while. Sure, I’m looking forward to no more diaper changes, but then – that’s it – my baby will officially be gone. (And we’re too old to have others, so he’s it.) Waaah!
Mine’s not even potty-trained. That didn’t stop me from crying like a baby when he figured out he didn’t need me to rock him to sleep. Thrilled he sleeps through the night? YESSSSS. Wishing he needed me more? ALWAYS.
I’m not participating today, but just have to laugh ’cause my 7-yr old sets out her school clothes exactly the same way! It looks as though there could be a body inside the clothes! HILARIOUs!

AWESOME. I have a neat freak 10 year old. she lays out her clothes each night too. Plus she rooms with her NOT neat freak sister and it’s painful for each of them Every Single Day.
