Wordful Wednesday-{Blast from the past}

One of my best friends from high school and I got together for lunch  last week while she was in town.  I haven’t seen her much since high school, so it was exceptionally nice to catch up, and see each other in person.

Plus, we got to do the whole,

Wow, you look great!”

“You look great, too”.

“It’s so nice to see you!”

“Yes.  It’s wonderful to see you.  I’m so glad you made time to get together today”.

“Can you believe how long it’s been?”

“Too long.”

“It doesn’t seem like it’s been almost 20 years since we graduated from high school, does it?”

Conversation screeches to a halt as we both consider that we are both at the age that we used to consider WAY OVER the HILL.

Not to worry though, that minor discomfort (caused by feeling old) only lasted long enough for her to pull some 20 year old gems out of her purse.

You should know that I have been looking for my set these pictures for years (remember way back when when almost everyone just got 2 copies of each picture developed?).

I kept hoping one day they’d show up.  And they have.  Except not my original set.  HER set which now belong to me.

This  picture of her and me (I’m on the right) was taken the summer before my senior year as I was heading off to Europe for the summer.  Don’t you LOVE the high, HUGE pants belted at the waist?  And the ASTRO van in the back ground?  If I’m not mistaken, those babies were  the precursor to the minivan as we know it today…..

The set of pictures that Julie gave me also contained a bunch of pictures of celebrities from the past that we met one year at a celebrity golf tournament.  Billy Idol, Hulk Hogan, Elvira, and more are just waiting to appear here…..

Just as soon as I scan them in….

Hope on over to Amanda’s place to link up with other Wordful Wednesday participants, and stay tuned.  I’m missing it so much that I *might* be back in a more limited capacity than before…..

  1. Hey, Angie!!! You were such a doll with your long, flowing locks! You’re still adorable though! Miss ya being the W/W girl, by the way.

  2. LOL
    That pic is awesome Angie.
    LOL
I’m glad you got to catch up with your mate.

  3. Aaahhhh….the days of that hair and those pants….LOL. Glad their over 🙂 How awesome that you had a European adventure in HS! I was able to go to England for a summer my third year of college. Nothing like it!

As for making a comeback…..DO IT! 🙂 I can even help you along the way with our joint post venture!! Not that I have a following even close to yours, but I’ll send my followers your way! But….they’re probably your followers already since I started blogging with WW and Kat’s WW. 🙂

  4. OMGOSH! I’d recognize you anywhere. You didn’t need to say which was you 🙂
How great to meet up with a blast from the past. (I’m planning one of those visits myself next month and can’t wait.)

  5. So. Cute! And yes, I’m super jealous of your timeless beauty and your flowing hair.

As for making a comeback, I told you that you’d miss it! Consider me the Wordful Wednesday babysitter. The good kind though. The kind the kids love a little, while mom is gone. Or maybe I’m like a mother’s helper? Because even when mom is home I’ll still be there lending a hand. It sounds like Hand That Rocks the Cradle, but more positive and less psychotic.

The new year will be extra awesome for both of us I think!

  6. I cannot wait to see old-school you and Hulk Hogan. CANNOT wait. But I will. ‘Cause I don’t really have a choice.

  7. You still look as gorgeous as ever!

  8. I love getting together with old friends:-)

  9. I had lunch with a high school friend a few weeks ago and it felt amazing to sit down and catch up. They just know a part of you that most other people don’t, you know?

  10. Cute! and how wonderful to still have a friend to meet up with from your younger days. I moved to much , almost every year, so I didn’t get t really connect. Enjoy your visit!

  11. You don’t even have BIG hair. You can’t be that old, because our 20 yr. reunion was basically a roast on all the BIG hair do’s.

Just wait till your 20th. It’s a trip. TOTALLY! (w/ a valley girl accent, now you know how old I am)

  12. K…..here it is..Charlotte’s Noggin – debuting for Wordful Wednesday…..

  13. What a great picture! How fun that you were able to catch up.

  14. My favorite!! I love getting together with friends from the past. It’s so fun to just pick up from where you left off 🙂 I swear we could be sisters. I will have to send you a pic of me at that age…

  15. Oh Angie you are precious! I’m SO glad you got your copies of the pictures and got to see your friend. Wonderful memories for sure… 🙂

  16. LOVE that pic!!! I heart old school pics!!!

  17. aawww…BFFs forever! Can’t wait to see your other pictures too. I see Hulk Hogan around town here…and once in a while I see his ex-wife (and her young boyfriend) too. My husband actually put him under for his spine surgery last year. He’s a BIG guy!

  18. And in the photo you’re wearing one half of a “BFF” locket, right?? =>

  19. Time flies too fast and it is sad we are at that age that we use to think was OLD. It is so much fun looking at old photographs! I can’t wait to see more.

  20. Awwww. You were adorable!

  21. OMG Angie you were gorgeous even then! How fun to catch up!

  22. I love it – i always look at long lost pictures and wonder how I could have taken my body and skin for granted…. oh to have that skin again lol

  23. How fun that you got together.

We just found some old pictures with the high waisted pants, too. Hilarious.

  24. Great times.. Great friends, Glad you two got together.

  25. Oh man just look at you! Those were the days huh. But do we really change? We just add knowledge and some other stuff 🙂

  26. Love the picture! Your post made me miss my best friend from High School. We don’t see each other nearly enough!

  27. I’d love a reuion with my bestie, too. Life marches on, but I like how sometimes it rolls the clock back–even if it’s just for a few hours.

  28. Hey, in your defense, i think you rocked the high-waisted pants! I’m a bridesmaid in my college room-mate’s wedding (and college was a LOOOOONG time ago!) in March. Nothing better than reconnecting with old friends… Nothing better.

  29. HAHA! Love it. My big hair days…sigh.

  30. How fun to catch up. Awesome that you got pictures. Mine have seen to have disappeared over the years. I just recently came across some and I had to chuckle because I haven’t seen them in ages.

  31. Hey I am a new follower!! I love the name of your blog- I wish I had a fmaily of 7- 5 right now!! we are working on it LOL

    Stop by sometime!!

    Melissa

  32. Oh, I LOVE the pic! You were(and are) a doll!

Me, on the other hand…my pics from high school are just scary.

  33. What a great shot!

I remember those pants and we had an astro van, too. =)

  34. Awww. So sweet that you had that opportunity to reunite with your friends. I still come here every single Wednesday to find that you are not hosting anymore! huhu

  35. LOL I feel like I’ve had that same conversation with a lot of friends and family this week. I haven’t seen a lot of people in almost a year and it’s funny how all of our convos are exactly the same!
