Wordful Wednesday-Birthday Party Director

Wordful Wednesday 411: Wordful Wednesday is like Wordless Wednesday, except WITH words.  It’s for those of us that just cannot be wordless, no matter how much we try.  Add my Wordful Wednesday badge to your post (right side bar under “WW”) if you really want to make me happy, and then add your post link to the linky below. Easy peasy.

At the rate I’m going, I calculate that by the time I’m 50 I’ll be one of the biggest grinches in the state of California.  I was hoping that the twins wouldn’t notice if I didn’t throw them a birthday party and it would slip by un-noticed, but Jeff pointed out that throwing birthday parties for one’s children is not only fun for most parents, it’s good for the child’s self esteem, too.

So, we collectively decided that a Science Themed Birthday Party would be a fun way to usher in the twins 7th year of life.  And it was, but boy-oh-boy it was a lot of work.  One of the perks was that for one moment in time I had the attention of 23 children.  I can’t remember the last time that happened, and it was a beautiful moment.

I can’t wait to share the birthday party with you.  We had experiments and food and cool decorations.  Most of all though, we had fun.  All the elements of a great party, right?

  1. Oops! I didn’t realize this was wordful and not wordless Wednesday.. Mine is wordless this week, although I usually can’t contain the words.. hmmm… In any case thanks for the link up!

  2. WOW – That sounds really impressive! Way to go Mom!! 🙂

  3. How do you do it?! How? 23 kids? At one time? Oy. 😉 I hope the boys had an amazing birthday!

  4. Oh man. I can’t wait to see what you did this time. I aspire to host cool bday parties like you. Any ideas for a Diego theme? I’m only half kidding about that one!

  5. I love it! Being a party director is always fun! Ha ha! 🙂

  6. I bet they loved it!

I don’t do birthday parties anymore. I stopped along time ago. We usually let my son pick a couple friends and then take them to do something fun. This year we spent my son’s at Disney World and are taking our daughter to Great Wolf Lodge for her’s (her birthday is Friday).

  7. Mmmmmm the attention of multiple children. Bliss. Can’t wait to see the pictures! (Because, um, experiments?)

  8. You. Are. My. Hero. 23 kids?! You definitely deserve the title of Superwoman. 🙂 Love that shot! 🙂 And thanks so much for the shout-out! 🙂

  9. Wow, impressive! 23 kids in full attention? AND it was a Science Themed party? Awesome…can’t wait to see the party details.

  10. I get it….ELEMENTS! Haha. I stopped doing birthday parties rather early for my children, because I got sick of doing all that work, then having to deal with disappointed kids when only one or two people would show up. But we’ve been pretty successful with sleepovers with pizza and movies, so it all worked out 🙂

Looks like your twins had an amazing B-day!

  11. Brave mama…. 23 kids AND they were all paying attention at the same time? That is some sort of miracle.

  12. Wow! That’s awesome! You. Are. My. Hero! That’s great that it went well! Bravo, Mama!

  13. I’m so impressed! you look like you are conducting a orchestra of captive kids, LOL
A science-themed bday part sounds so cool. can’t wait for details!

  14. oh my. I’m sure it was spectacular. You don’t do anything small!

  15. Call me lazy but I’ve entirely given up on throwing birthday parties at my house. I stink at it and hate it all at the same time. You’re like a pro though. Maybe you should come to my house & hook #3 up w/a 5th birthday party next month!

  16. Science theme sounds like a great idea! I bet the kids had a blast with all the hands on stuff. I have a 3rd birthday party to throw next week and still don’t actually know what I’m going to do … I’m a big believer that I work better under pressure 🙂
