A friend recently asked me:

“Why do some parents send their children to school without brushing their hair?”

“Because they are lazy, friend”.

Pure and simple.

Plus, this parent loves her some good bedhead.

Don’t worry.

I haven’t always been this way.

I used to make sure my children had perfectly coiffed hair before they left for school.

But, that was before.

Before I realized that it takes a lot longer to do their hair than not.

Go ahead.  Judge me.

I STILL like me some good bedhead.

  51. We call it “crazy” hair..I don’t chose that battle in the morning.

  52. I’ve added my (almost) Wordless Wednesday post! And on the topic of morning hair — every morning I ask my 10 year old son, did you brush your hair? You’d never know it b/c it looks like his hair hasn’t been near a brush in DAYS. Like the commenter above me, I don’t focus on that battle, in the hopes that peer pressure (i.e., the cute little girl he wants to impress) will lead him to get better acquainted with his brush! Happy Wednesday.

  53. I never brush my son’s hair and it is long too. My daughter’s hair gets brushed usually, but sometimes we let it go all weekend. What a mess! Lazy parents unite!

  77. Four kids here, three that go to school. I allow my son to basically get ready on his own I just let him know if I notice his hair isn’t getting kept that it gets buzzed and that takes care of his hair. Girls have no choice, they do it and then if I don’t like it I do it. They’ve come to the conclusion just to wet the brush and give mom it first. There is one kid that does come to the bus stop with unkept hair. So many times I wanted to brush his hair for him, it isn’t short so you can really tell and it is somewhat wavy so mix that together and it looks like he just crawled out of bed and ran to the stop. Happy WW!

And now, with my strong willed third child, I am that mother. Not only does her hair not have bows in it for longer than a few minutes a day… it’s often extra curly from not being brushed! Call it lazy, call it pick your battles…. call it fodder for the wedding day toast… it is what it is.
