I was a bit skeptical when Jeff told me that he thought it was a great idea to sign the three boys up for baseball.  Despite my objections, weak as they were, “but then we’ll like, have to take them to games and practice!” he signed them up.  And they {the boys} were thrilled.  Seriously, thrilled.

Even after the first practice, when I was convinced they’d decide baseball/(and T Ball for the twins) wasn’t all it was cracked up to be, they LOVED it.  And, despite all the trips to the store for baseballs and cleats, and a glove and bat and socks, pants, belt and their name printed on their jersey, I still thought baseball wasn’t so bad.

And then I got their game schedule and almost hyperventilated.  Even though I had been warned I wasn’t  prepared for the reality of so many games, and I hadn’t thought about conflicting games and practices and other commitments with the other kids.

I swear, it’s a good thing I think they are so cute in their uniforms or I might have had a mini nervous breakdown.

If I suddenly disappear, you’ll know why.  And, for all of you who snickered when I complained about soccer, consider yourselves vindicated.  Soccer has nothing on baseball.

  1. The practices will be a pain in the butt, but the games will make it all worthwhile. So much fun!

  2. Thanks so much for hosting! Have a wonderful Wednesday!

  3. Awww — that grin is ADORABLE!

My husband is so eager for our kids to be in t-ball … but I DREAD the practice/game schedule. I love being home too much!

  4. how fun! i can not wait until broxton is in tball and what not 🙂

  5. Hooray! We can’t wait for soccer season to start next month. I think sports are so great for our kiddos. They learn so much!

  6. i just don’t know how people with multiple kids play sports…chaos!

  7. Wow. That schedule sounds INTENSE. You’re right…good thing they look so damn adorable in those uniforms!

  8. Oh my goodness, what a lovely surprise – I came by to post my link and saw that you’d featured my post from last week! Thank you so much, what a treat!

Your boys are adorable, they look so proud of themselves in their uniforms. I don’t know how soccer is in the States but here in Israel it’s four (yes, four) practices a week and a game every single weekend for 10.5 MONTHS – yes, only 6 weeks off each summer. There’s definitely a downside to living in a place where outdoor sports can run straight through the winter. It literally runs your life, and I will admit that after several years of this I’m doing a huge happy dance now that my son has switched from soccer to the much more sane two practice a week no weekends tennis.

  9. They look pro! Happy WW!

  10. They look ADORABLE in their uniforms! Princess Nagger hasn’t shown any interest in sports (yet) but I imagine ultra-active Little Dude will be the sports kid in our family. 🙂

  11. Kids’ activities are so nuts!

  12. I must admit…. I have not signed up my kids for sports and things because I fear the schedule of practice and games. How in the world will I EVER keep up with all that?

Maybe it’s time to just bit the bullet.

  13. Love the photos! My son isn’t into playing sports but I hope when my daughter gets older she will want to play some sports.

  14. Baseball already?!? It’s only February!

Right now I only have one in sports so the multiple activities hasn’t fully hit our house yet. Thank goodness!

Let me introduce you to my friends, the knitting needles. By the time the season is over you will have spent enough time in the stands to make a few king-sized afghans.

I used to be so jubilant when practices and games were rained out. I’m such an awful mom. You have my condolences.

  16. My little guy is starting baseball this year too. So exciting. But our parents meeting was a little scary…

  17. (Hooray, I got a mention? 🙂 Woo hoo!)

Now, about baseball, I don’t know how you’re doing it. I brought my DS to his very first extra curricular activity event and it was a mad house – manic I say! I can’t imagine how you’re able to do this with more than one child!

  18. I hear you. Beans is our “Sporty Spice”. First, it was TKD…then TKD & Soccer. Then we moved and now it’s Basketball…and then back to TKD tomorrow. pDaddy just signed her up for ICE HOCKEY..?!?!? Meanwhile, guess who’s taking her to all of these practices???

  19. I remember when we were kids and my sister and I played on different softball teams while our brother played baseball … spring was CRAZY!!! Best of luck and try to enjoy 😉

  20. Oh welcome to the wonderful world of baseball!! We got introduced many years ago and now with a 9yr old who plays travel baseball and a 6yr old who plays things can get very crazy around here! We have already started practices with both & his first tournament is in 2wks and then we will be in full swing once her games start. spring/summer usually consists of about 3 or so practices and numerous games every week. He will play 3 or more in a weekend depending on how good they play! oh and we also do fall ball here so after Spring ball and travel ball is over we get about 1-2 wks off and we are into another season, so our ball season is mid Feb. thru mid Oct. 🙂

But dang yours do look cute in their uniforms so yep it is all worth it 🙂

  21. it’s good to know they enjoy it. I think children need sports to do. I have my kid join Tae Kwon Do. It is a self defence, but I think it’s a sport also.
they some times get bored of it but still I tell them to do. for their fitness and health.
