Wordful Wednesday ~ Washington DC Metro

Wordful Wednesday 411Wordful Wednesday is like Wordless Wednesday, except WITH words. It’s for those of us that just cannot be wordless, no matter how much we try. Add my Wordful Wednesday badge to your post (right side bar under “WW”) if you really want to make me happy, and then add your post link to the linky below. Easy peasy.

{Metro Station}

I promised last week that I’d post pictures of our trip camping, but once I uploaded all of my pictures to my computer I felt completely overwhelmed.  I have too many to go through to even wrap my mind around.  So, this week for Wordful Wednesday you get pictures from my recent trip to Washington DC.  The girls and I had the opportunity to visit Maryland and Washington DC for a week and we traveled around on the Metro.  We felt pretty accomplished getting everywhere we needed to on the Metro system which, admittedly, is easy to navigate, but for California girls who are used to driving everywhere, this was a big deal!  {{smiling}}

Union Station

Some of the stations are seriously gorgeous, too, like Union Station in Washington DC.

The escalators up and down to the Metro at some of the stops were awe inspiring!

Metro

Knowing we were that far underground was a little freaky, to tell you the truth!

Metro

But I’m not complaining.  The Metro System was good to us {{not necessarily the Metro Station Workers, who were complete grouches across the board, though}}.  The Metro System got us everywhere we need to be, when we were supposed to be there, so I give it two thumbs up.

Comments

  1. I’ve never been on a Metro. I’d probably be a little freaked out at first, considering I’m a small town girl, but it’d be a neat adventure.

  2. I actually love the DC metro system. It’s so much cleaner and easier to understand than any other I’ve ever traveled (NYC gives me nightmares!). I can’t believe you were in my neighborhood, though! Dying. 😉

  3. It looks like a wonderful vacation! I am always amazed at the beauty of design and craftsmanship that went into these old underground places. But, when you think that in time period that they were built that type of transportation was brand new it makes sense. It really allowed all people to get around to places that otherwise they might not have been able to. It opened up so much.

  4. I love the look of old train stations. They almost take you back to a different time and place.

  5. HOW FUN!!! Wow. That’s awesome. You guys sure travel a lot! Lucky. (In a Napolean Dynamite voice)

  6. Love love love your photos of the metro! It is beautiful – and definitely a little scary to be underground. I lived in DC for 2 years after college and love that town. There is so much history… And never enough time to see it all!!

  7. how much fun… i wish we had done that when we were in dc… but…………. maybe next time.
    now, when are you planning a trip to georgia? 😉

  8. These are great shots. I’m a little behind but I’m glad I made it by.

  9. I love seeing the pleasure in tourists’ eyes toward something I see every day. And you’re right; your best bet is to be as adept at metro travel as you can be because the likelihood of getting someone to help you — someone who does NOT have an attitude — is pretty hard.

  10. Thought it wo’undlt to give it a shot. I was right.
