Tuesday’s Tribute-To health

Yet Another Jay and Deb Production
Today I’m roasting healthy bodies.
I was going to tell you about Lola and how well she has acclimated to her new home. And that I’m pretty sure my husband loves her more than I do. I made her a “she” for him, by the way. I knew that they had a connection when I saw that she had Blu-ray. I was right.
But, then I started thinking…….thankful for the new woman in my life? No thanks.
I wanted to talk about something with meaning. So, let’s talk substance.
Our health.
I’m afraid this might be a slap in the face to those that have health issues that complicate their quality of life. It isn’t meant to. Rather, it’s a way to say that I’m thankful, yet not boastful of my health.
So many things have happened recently that have made me grateful for the healthy body that houses my spirit.
I’ve been able to birth babies.
I can get on the floor and play with my children.
I can walk. I can run. I can do just about anything I want to with it.
It’s healthy.
And that’s a blessing and pretty darn amazing.
I’m grateful.

  1. I too am very thankful for good health. And the older we are, the more we appreciate it!

  2. What a great post! I am thankful for our (general) health….but having sick kids for 2 weeks made me forget that we really ARE in good health. There’s a lot to be thankful for.

I’m stuck on your first line. AS I don’t “get” what Blu-Ray is all about and how it makes things better. I don’t see it. I have only one really good piece of funiture that hasn’t been ruined by my kids. My entertainment center. But my husbands new screen doesn’t fit in it 🙁

I have to say, even though I am not the most healthy person (darn that really high cholesterol and BP), I am still aware how lucky I am. I am aware that it could change anyday and I need to appreciate each day and not worry about the future.

  4. Ronda's Rants says

I am 50 and I have taken my health for granted until now! I am in a Pilates class with some women my age who struggle…I struggle too but they struggle more!
    I am grateful…
I can move and play with my grandchildren! I can give hugs and carry them where they want to go! I can go on long hikes with My Hubby…
    I am grateful too!

  5. Amen! I, too, am so grateful for the blessing of good health.

  6. ParentingPink says

Great tribute! I too am grateful for my health!

  7. mommaof4wife2r says

having had some really hard spells with health, the times where things are good, well, they are so much more blessed.

  8. Halftime Lessons says

    LOL this was fun sweetie…

Unlike yourself, I am in no position to pay homage to my body this morning when I paid it such unbelievable disrespect again last night…

    😉

  9. Being healthy is SUCH a blessing. I take it for granted sometimes.

  10. •´.¸¸.•¨¯`♥.Erin.♥´¯¨•.¸¸.´• says

I think it’s easy sometimes to take our general health for granted. Overall, we’re healthy. I can’t begin to imagine otherwise, and I pray we continue to be. Definitely something to truly be thankful for and be a bit more aware of it. 🙂

  11. I keep telling myself to be mindful of good health when it comes back to me. Still waiting, but totally understand your tribute.

  12. Amen! We often take those things for granted.

  13. and it is a lot to be grateful for…thanks for sharing angie!

just stopped by to thank you for commenting on my guest post over at tiffany’s blog last week. thank you!

  14. Amen! Always remember that we are all blessed.

  15. Just yesterday, I found out that nothing serious is wrong with my heart. I can definitely relate to this!

  16. The Blonde Duck says

    Well said!

  17. A healthy body (and the healthy bods of our families) IS such a blessing. It’s good to remember…thanks!

  18. Sometimes being healthy is much more a state of mind then a state of body. I’m thankful that you are healthy and I’m thankful that I’m on my way there, too.

We have no idea how important being healthy is until we aren’t anymore. It’s such an important thing to be aware of. 🙂

  19. Straight to Your Hart says

To your health…as I sip on a Coke!! Where that goes…not so healthy. On the other hand it perks me up..and that is healthy. K-just trying to find excuses because of my bad habit!!

  20. Health is a WONDERFUL thing to give tribute to!!

  21. Jenni Jiggety says

It’s a wonderful thing to have and be thankful for!

  22. What a beautiful tribute to health!

  23. Very well put tribute. I am thankful for my health as well and I’m loving every minute of it. 🙂

  24. Don’t apologize for having a healthy body.
Those that don’t wish they did, so should be happy for those that do as I”m sure they’d wish healthy bodies on all.
    Great post.

  25. Gunnisac Sandersons says

I am very grateful as well! i love that even though I have had 3 kids one on the way that my body has been able to keep up with me. You look great and you are a very healthy girl. Nice post on gratitude.

  26. I’m grateful too!!! For your health and mine.

  27. My family/household is also blessed with good health and it makes me very thankful indeed.

  28. You are so right– thank you for the reminder. Too often I focus on what my body doesn’t do (dance well, lose 15 pounds magically etc.) rather than what it does!!

  29. That’s a wonderful thing to pay tribute to Angie! We tend to take our health and abilities for granted. Although I pray and thank God every night for the health of my family and for healing for those who are not so…

  30. every time I go to work, I am reminded how awesome health is.

  31. Live.Love.Eat says

I definitely take it for granted. Thanks for the reminder!!!!!

  32. Very well said! It’s always a great reminder to be thankful for your health.

Even though I’ve been stricken with strep throat today and have been sick now for a week… Generally, I’m healthy enough to do the things I want to do.

Plus, my older son is a constant reminder to be thankful and remind me not to take ‘movement’ for granted. Nice post!

  33. So true. We take our health for granted and it is so important to take a moment to give thanks for what we can do everyday with our health. Thanks for the reminder!

  34. Good health is something we SHOULD pay tribute to and appreciate and take care of because the second it is gone, you’ll miss it beyond belief. Thanks for a great reminder!

  35. Oh, Angie…
    Thanks for this reminder.

  36. Casey's trio says

    Amen sister!

  37. That is a blessing and I know you worked hard to get where you are. You deserve it!

  38. Liz (Loving Mom 2 Boys) says

Wonderful tribute and what a great reminder!!

  39. Am trying to be thankful for general great health, while waiting to get over this sinus thing. I miss good sleep! Hope to be back in your ‘healthy and feeling great’ ranks very soon.

  40. Eudea-Mamia says

Excellent post!! I try to remember that every time I see myself naked 😉

  41. I always love your fresh perspective on things. I’ve been feeling a bit crappy lately because I haven’t been exercising regularly and I’ve been way overdoing it on sweets and carbs, but this post really reminds me what it’s all about. Thanks. 🙂

  44. Hi there – I found you from Megan’s Wordful Wednesday link over at LittleBellaBean.blogspot.com – and isn’t it amazing how God made us?!?! I especially notice this when something has gone wrong with my body! Usually I am not aware of all the things my ‘fearfully and wonderfully made’ body can do!
What an amazing Creator and Author of Life! Oh, and wanted to mention how much I love Sarah Groves music and hearing it on your blog this morning!

  45. Oops! Realized the music I commented on hearing here (above comment) was actually coming from Megan’s blog! Sorry about that!
I love your writing. By the way.
