Looking for the perfect gift for kids aged 6-12 for under $20? I’m pretty sure I’ve found it! Inspired by the new TRANSFORMERS PRIME ‘BEAST HUNTERS’ story, the new KRE-O Prime Beast Transformers line by Hasbro gives kids the chance to play out the new story line while building new designs and sets. My kids love that the sets have new designs for favorite characters like Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. I like that they provide tons of play time and are offered at a price that won’t break the bank!

The KRE-O TRANSFORMERS Prime Beast Hunters Line has 3 different sets to choose from. We tried the KRE‐O TRANSFORMERS BEAST HUNTERS RIPCLAW STRIKE Building Set. It comes with 199 pieces and is designed for kids aged 6-12 years, so it’s perfect for my boys! Retailing for $16.99, it’s a GREAT price point for a gift for boys! I have the hardest time finding age appropriate gifts for this age in this price range, so this line is fabulous!
KRE‐O TRANSFORMERS RIPCLAW STRIKE building set!
The RIPCLAW building set features RIPCLAW and one of the PREDACONS released from the evil lab of SHOCKWAVE. Kids can build RIPCLAW in his dragon or robot mode with the 2‐in-1 functionality. My favorite part is that the building set also features a mechanism that activates the characters flapping wings by a simple push of a button.
I really like that there are 199 pieces of involvement. I expected to see my three boys work together to figure out how to make all the colors and shapes work together to build RIPCLAW, but in the end they didn’t need too; one child took over and built RIPCLAW on his own, which was fine by me. The set is designed for kids ages 6 – 12. My 7 year olds had no problem assembling RIPCLAW and enjoyed it a ton!

- two unique KREON figures {COL. DANIEL WITWICKY and RIPCLAW}
- and a unique ENERGON piece
So, the same bricks can be used to build RIPCLAW in the dragon or robot mode, but the robot doesn’t transform into one or the other once it’s built.
The KRE-O Transformers pieces have working parts! As I mentioned earlier, there’s a mechanism that activates RIPCLAWS flapping wings by a simple push of a button. Also, the faces on the KREON figures have square jaws which make them look cool and the arms and legs have ball joints so the movement is really fluid. Additionally, no batteries are required {big bonus in my book} and the instructions are easy to follow. No reading is required for this set.

I’ll bet Tristan would enjoy those. He has a 3-in-1 lego set that makes a firetruck, helicopter, and jeep. He only makes the firetruck but I think he likes to build them.
