It never fails to amaze me how easy it is to lose pictures these days. My computers seem to have about a 2 year life span, and each time they die, many of my pictures die as well because I didn’t bother to back them up or store them in a safe place like I know I should.
I was just introduced to ThisLife, an online photo storage solution, and I’m a fan. I always mean to back up my photos on my computer, but I never do. When my computer crashes and I wonder what other platforms I shared those photos on, I wish I could remember, but I never can. ThisLife solves that problem for me. It can store all of my photos from everywhere I stash them like Facebook, Picassa, and Shutterfly. Basically, it pulls photos, videos, text messages and anything else you store digitally – whether it’s currently housed in Facebook, Shutterfly, Instagram or other places – and organizes them into a chronological timeline. You can then view your digital moments in a timeline, by places, or faces.
If you install the Desktop Uploader, the Magic Box will appear on your desktop. After that, just drag-and-drop your photos and videos into the Magic Box. All your Moments will be automatically synced to your account. And, it even has a face recognition tool much like iPhoto.
And, if you’ve gone mostly mobile, ThisLife works from your phone too. Keep your eyes pealed, they’ve got an iPhone app coming soon.
See this picture? I like to call it “Fun Times 10 Million”.
It now resides in my ThisLife Storage, along with a thousand others. I’m not about to lose more photos than I already have.
