Sound Logic?

I took Logic in college. Frankly, I didn’t enjoy it. At all. Probably because my logic doesn’t always follow the if-then rules.

I’m afraid I may have passed this faulty reasoning process onto my children.

Tonight Jacob said, “are boys girls?”

I responded, “No. Boys are boys and girls are girls”.

He then said, “but some boys wear dresses and wear pink shoes?”

I countered, “yes, some boys wear pink shoes”.

At which point he said, “So. Boys ARE girls”.

Um no.

I guess I have some explaining to do.

  4. I’m not sure he is grasping the whole what makes you a boy thing.

  5. What a conundrum…. oh, good luck, my friend 🙂

  6. It gets more confusing when you try to explain it to a room full of college students & you are talking about a lot more than just a boy in a pink dress. Oh, my!

  7. oh my! I had that conversation with my almost 10 yr old 3 yrs ago…I am just glad it went well… =0

  13. I dd not know they even taught such things in college – glad to see I did not miss much. Doesn’t seem to have helped with these such conundrums!

  14. Haha. So funny.
We have recently been discussing these types of things in our house too. My girls seem to think boys are not allowed to have long hair. LOL

We haven’t even gotten to pink dresses yet 🙂

  15. Well, kid logic is a whole different thing! The usual rules don’t apply.

  16. I love their little brains. They way they work! Always good for entertaining us!

  17. Thats a hard one …..send him over to dad for that question, see has he answers. Too funny!

  19. How funny!!! My kids saw some dude with a mini skirt and heals on and Emma looks at me and says, “That’s just not RIGHT!” Cracks me up!

  20. Yeah, we had to have this discussion during Project Runway, of all things. They had a challenge that involved designing dresses for drag queens. At first my son (age 11) was a little freaked out, but then he just thought it was funny! I’ve probably scarred him for life, but what the heck! He’s got to have something interesting to talk to his therapist about.
