{Scrapbooking}

I thought I’d share my thoughts on scrap booking with you.  I’m thinking it’ll help get me re-motivated.  My sister got me  into scrap booking about 10 years ago.  I went to scrap book parties, bought hundreds of dollars worth of supplies and completed MORE albums than I can even believe.

The most notable albums I completed are the FirstYear albums I made for each of my THREE oldest children.  They’ve always loved looking through them, and I’ve had every intention of making the twins their own First Year albums as well.  I even have all of the materials.  They (the twins) were so persuasive in their pleas for their own albums a few months ago, in fact, I even pulled out all of the supplies I’d need to “build” their album.  And, that table sat there for 3 months without one page even being attempted.  It was during the holidays though, so I have an excuse.  A poor one, but an excuse none-the-less.

The twins are asking for their albums again, so I have a game plan.  I’m going to set the table back up with all the needed supplies and I’m actually going to sit down and cut and adhere and create.  And present them with their completed albums with all the pomp and fan fare I can muster.

In the meantime, I’ve been doing some cropping and “designing” online.

So, while I’m up to my ears in scrap booking projects, I figure it’s the perfect time to giveaway a few of the things that I’ve found to make me a happy photographer, scrapper and card maker.

First up is a package worth more than $75 from Memory Mixer. All you have to do is pop in the handy dandy CD  and go to work.  Once you’ve compiled your scrap booking pages,  then you can have them printed in a hardbound book and mailed to you.  Voila.  A complete family heirloom! You’ll find the Memory Mixer giveaway here.

Next up is a package worth $50.00 from Premadehandmade.com. It combines a complete card making kit and a set of 6 nesting dies by Spellbinders.  You can find the giveaway here.

Lastly up for grabs is a $20.00 gift certificate for a camera strap slipcover from *Shey* [B].  I want one because I’m convinced that by snazzing up my camera I’ll be a better photographer.  You can help be the judge.  To enter to win one of your choosing, go here.

  1. My friend gave me a ton of scrapbooking stuff to put together a wedding album. I did 3 pages. Maybe the computer one would be doable.

  2. Scrapbooking is something I always wished I WANTED to do, if that makes sense. I think I’d be good at it but I just know I wouldn’t be consistent with it. I love looking at people’s creations though!!!

  3. I have never gotten into scrap booking. I blog instead. I figure that my children can look at that for their memories.

  4. Wow!! Good luck getting that wonderful project done:-)

  5. Giveaways, giveaways, and more giveaways. I love it.

Does scrapbooking give you the motivation to keep up with the baby book? Because that is one task where I am sorely lacking in and desperately need to jump on.

Also, do you scrapbook on a contractual basis? Cause I would totally hire you lightning quick. 🙂

  6. I know what you mean about getting out all of the supplies, but not actually doing a page! 🙂 I am making a scrapbook (s) for my in laws for their 50th anniversary. I have ALL of their family pictures and I need to get it done by October. I’m counting on having time this summer!

  7. I started scrapping a while back, I too have tons of stuff but never completed one 🙁 I would love to start up again. I need to bring out all my stuff so I can’t hide from it LOL

  8. I HATE scrapbooking. Ugh. What a pain in the a**. I just make photo books w/ my Mac. It’s a dilemma though, once you’ve started with a few kids, the younger ones will forever feel slighted if you don’t get theirs done. Too bad you can’t do just do ONE for BOTH of them. Or are you?

  9. I am not much of a scrapper, but now that you can do it online I might have to start. I’ve always thought about creating scrap books for my kids.

  10. As I type this, I am looking at a box filled with hundreds of dollars worth of scrapbooking items. Items I have had for several years. Items still unopened. I think I hear Ebay calling.

I am running out of somedays. There needs to be a service for people like me …. good intentions but poor follow through …where we could take all our stuff and pay someone else to put it all together. I’m just saying…..

  11. I wax and wane with my scrap booking – I think, though, I am going to turn my son’s blog into a scrap book for him as a gift to him when he’s 20 or 30.

  12. I have never made a scrapbook page in my life. I have no creativity in my genes, so why bother? It’d just be ugly!

    Justine 😮 )

  13. Did someone say scrapbooking? 🙂

  14. I have tried to do the scrap booking thing..never did a book on just one kid..but I need to get the pictures off the hard drive and save them for the kids for later.

  15. You are so cute : )
A camera strap will definitely make you a better photographer!
I have a whole bag of scrapbooking supplies too.
I just look at it and wonder if I will ever do it again. I did Kaishon’s first 9 months.

  16. I have a ton of stuff in my hope chest, and old photo albums that I really need to get at one of these days, but I really need to buy some scrapbooks, and photo albums to do it. It’ll probably take me some time to do it, but it would be nice to leave my children/grand-children these memoirs, and know the history of their family. Nice post. Thanks for the idea. Have a great night!

  17. I used to be a mega scrapbooker. And then AJ was born….and then I started blogging….and poor AJ hardly has anything done. But his whole life is on my blog, so he better not complain!

  18. Seriously, the only way for me to get any scrap booking done is to attend one of those scrap book nights where they quite literally lock you in a room with a bunch of other scrap bookers. I went to one a few weeks back and stayed from 6pm until 1am. I got a lot of crap done that night!
    Good Luck!

  19. I’ve tried traditional scrapbooking and even though I sell it, I hate it. It’s so messy and time consuming and nothing is ever the right size. I do love digi-scrapping and Stampin’ Up! offers a great software package for it, which I bought immediately, but since I’ve discovered Twitter, I never have time for it. What I need is a night away to sit and focus on it.
