Random Acts of Kindness

A few weeks ago I wrote a post about my whole family coming down with a cold.

I had been so self congratulatory about having had a healthy family all winter.  Too self congratulatory, obviously.

The very day that I posted about everyone being sick I received a very nice email wishing me and my family a speedy recovery.

I also received comments and tweets from friends “checking in” to make sure we were all right.

It really brought home to me how powerful cyberspace is.  In a matter of minutes of saying that I didn’t feel well, I had people checking in on me, and my family.

Such a beautiful thing.

It didn’t end there.  The next day this arrived on my doorstep.

A whole stash of over-the-counter cold-care products to help relieve our cold/cough symptoms.

If that and the emails, comments and tweets are not random act of kindnesses, I don’t know what are!

I feel very blessed.

Thank you.

Disclosure:  I’m assuming I was sent a care package of Vicks VapoRub products because I am a part of the Vicks VapoRub Blogger Brigade.

I’ve been bragging about my kids not really being sick all school year. Today I have one of them home sick.

Posts like this really show that there are great people out there. How awesome that you got the care package!

How sweet. My friend Chelsea (VicariousChelsea.com) was sent some mac and cheese and fuzzy socks from Kraft when she tweeted about being sick a couple of months ago.

    LOVE my cyber friends 🙂

I think the illnesses just wanted to lull us into a false sense of security. I was thinking how nice it was that we hadn’t gotten ill either. 2 weeks ago Andrea went through 12 hours, vomiting. The next day I started a 10 day cold, fever, chills, ache awfulness..Andrea is still in it. I guess the germs are exerting their dominance.

How is everyone fairing now? Hopefully, all better? Sometimes the random acts of kindness can ease the ills of not feeling so great – kind of like receiving flowers.

I hope everyone is on the mend. Take care.
