Optimism: My Word for the New Year

Optimism.

That’s my word for the year.

I am optimistic that 2011 is going to be fabulous in every way.

I don’t know why I think so.

I just do.

And, if there is any truth to that self fulfilling prophecy theory, then 2011 is going to be one of the best years ever for me.

I have some changes in mind, and with a little self discipline, action and kindness on my part, I think I might be able to move mountains (figuratively of course)!

If you could choose a word to encompass 2011, what would it be?

I’m playing along with Mama Kat’s nearly-world-famous Writer’s Workshop today.

  1. Dropping by from Mama Kat’s – yay you for the positive outlook!

  2. “Enjoy”

I will enjoy this year now that things are getting a little easier with the Crazies. The first two years of twins are hellish…I’m looking forward to enjoying!

I love optimism…if I could tell you how many times positive thinking has helped me out of a situation or helped me maintain my sanity, you’d think I was insane (but I would ignore that telling myself you think I’m awesome)!

  3. Optimism is a great word to represent 2011. And I do believe in the self fulfilling prophecy theory. So here’s to the best year ever!

I haven’t thought at all about a word to encompass 2011… but to just grab one, I would go with less. I want to spend less, buy less, eat less, complain less. Less really is more. If I have less distractions in my life, maybe I can focus more on things that truly matter.

  4. Optimism is a fantastic choice! Life is SO much better when you look for the positive in situations. I found your blog through Mama Kat today, and I love the design. I’m off to read more of your posts….

  5. It’s always good to be optimistic.. gives you something to look forward to. I’m sure you will have a great 2011.

  6. I’ve been feeling very optimistic about 2011 as well. I don’t know why, but I think this will be *the* year. For what, I don’t know, but it will be good.

I hope your year is fabulous!

  7. I hope and pray that 2011 will be even slightly better than 2010 for me…if it is WAY better well, I will do freaking handstands.

  8. Grateful.
That’s my word of the day and the year I think. I just found out that a Hawaii family lost their one year old daughter to Diabetic Ketoacidosis…….I just can’t imagine that loss. So, I’m choosing Grateful today and everyday this year because my little girls are here, they’re healthy, happy, squeezable little miracles. 🙂 I know you understand that feeling of gratefulness as I do.

  9. I’m struggling with my word I want to use… and I need to pick one quick… I’m taking One Word (Ali Edwards’ online journaling project course) and am trying to find an all-encompassing word.

Yours is great 🙂 I wish you much optimism and progress in 2011 and beyond.

  10. What a great word to use for the New Year! I’m going to say my word this year will be: Organization. Cause when things aren’torganized, I fell like a crazy person!

  11. Great word, Angie!

  12. Hope. It brings me to tears to write it.
I love your word! There is no one nicer to be around than an optimistic person. Have a great day!

  13. Starting the new year with a positive outlook is the best way to ensure success. My word is DOING… You have to act in order to accomplish, right?

    All the Best!

  14. Love it! I see all these fabulous words and want to steal them for my year. 🙂

  15. I am all about optimism! Great word!!! 🙂 Now you’ve got me thinking…hmmmm…

  16. 2011 is going to be freaking awesome for you.

    I can feel it.

  17. I love it! I hope 2011 is everything you are hoping it will be. Optimism rocks. And interestingly enough, (only because I’m a natural pessimist)that’s very much how I feel about it. I feel like the world is full of opportunity and hope and just awesomeness!

  18. I like your word. For me, I am thinking of going with “flexibility”. I like the single word versus long resolutions.

  19. You have a wonderful outlook for the year:-)

  20. :o)

  21. I’m back! I’ve got my word – Contribute! Just posted about it. Thanks for getting me thinking! 🙂

  22. Love this! I wanted to start my year off like that too but so far..it has been brutal!!!!!

  23. I can not pick just one word….and if I could, I am sure in 5 minutes I would change my mind, or my boys would change it for me! You know how that is! =)

  24. It’s so true how when we put our minds to something, anything is possible. I have always thought of you as optimistic person. Your posts always seem to have a positive outlook and sort of sunny energy.

  25. What a fantastic word for the new year! I’m inspired!

  26. Love a good positive post! Thanks!

  27. We could all stand to be a little more optimistic. I know I could. The word of the year for me is FIT. I want to get more physically, mentally and spiritually fit in 2011. 🙂

  28. You WILL be able to move mountains! The first step is to believe you can. Optimism is a great word… I hope you reap great rewards this year. My word is commitment!! I’ve got a few things I’ve committed or re-committed myself to and I’ve blogged about it. Hope you’ll take a peek.
