How to Make a Paper Christmas Tree

Making a Paper Christmas Tree is a DIY craft that is super easy, cheap {or free} and perfect for the holidays!  It’s a fabulous way to recycle cereal boxes to be used for the bases, and use up that scrapbooking paper you have laying around.  All it takes is making your tree bases, punching out the scrapbook paper, rolling the end, and gluing them to the base!  Eventually you have a perfectly shaped tree that you can have fun displaying.  You can even add glitter to it.  Try using different sized bases for different sized trees!

Step 2:  Hot glue along one side of the half circle to hold the cone in place.

Step 3:  Tree base will look like this after it is rolled and glued.

Punch Tags

Step 4:  Begin punching out the tags on all 3 sheets of scrapbook paper.  Tip: The bigger cereal box used the bigger the tree so you will need more tags.  (The blue tree was made using a small cereal box and 3 sheets of scrapbook paper.  The larger white tree was made using a family sized cereal box and 5 sheets of scrapbook paper.)

Roll Tags

Step 5:  After you’re done punching out the tags begin rolling them on a pencil.  Start at the bottom of the tag and roll in.  You do not have to roll the top portion of the tag.  This step is perfect for enlisting your child’s help!

Glue Curled Tags On

Step 6:  Here’s the tedious part of the project.  Beginning at the bottom of the tree base begin gluing the tags on by overlapping them.  Once you finish one layer begin the next.  Make sure you don’t space out the rows too much or you will be able to see gaps.

If you want to embellish your tree you can spray on adhesive and sprinkle with glitter to give it a little bling.  You could of course leave it plain, but I think the glitter really enhances it!
