Lemon Sugar Scrub Recipe {homemade gift idea}

Sugar scrubs are easy to make, package adorably and are affordable.  Quite simply, they are the perfect homemade gift!  They are my new latest craze and I’ve decided that a Lemon Sugar Scrub should be on every woman’s “want” list.

Lemon Sugar Scrub

Making sugar scrubs are so easy it should be illegal. The best part is that KIDS can make them for moms.  Or grandmas.  Or aunts.  Whomever.  With Mother’s Day coming up, that’s important, right?   Plus, the sugar scrubs can be used on the hands, feet and body.  I love to use sugar scrubs in the shower because they are such great exfoliators and the hot water dissolves the sugar crystals before they can be too abrasive.

Lemon Sugar Scrub Recipe

Lemon Sugar Scrub Recipe

Mix Together {this recipe fills a bit more than TWO 16 oz Mason Jars} ~ I filled 4 round tins with this recipe.

  • 5 1/8 Cups of Sugar
  • 2  Cups of Olive Oil
  • Add  7-8 Tablespoons of Lemon Juice
  • Spoon into desired containers {it smells so good!} Lemon Sugar Scrub
  • Decorate Jar or tin ~ or don’t, depending on whether or not you are giving it as a gift or whether or not you want to make it look pretty. {I found a set of lemon note cards in the dollar bin at Michael’s and cut out the lemon image for the tag.  I’m sure you could find a free lemon printable online and get the same effect.  I tied it on with twine and that’s it.  You can see that just a little bit of embellishment went a long way in making the tin look dressed up but not too fancy schmancy!}

That’s it!  The Lemon Sugar Scrub is read to use or give!

Lemon Sugar Scrub

Seriously, would you have ever guessed that making a sugar scrub could be that easy?

*Just like with peanut butter, the oil will separate and the sugar will settle on the bottom if it sits for prolonged periods,  so if you don’t use regularly, be sure to stir before use!

*I scoured the web for the easiest sugar scrub recipes and then based on their recipes made my own.

**The scent goes away after a few days, so next time I’ll use a few drops of essential lemon oil.

    I also make these but instead of lemon if you want a different scent just use essential oils ($6 on amazon). You only need a few drops and you can make any scent you want. My favorites are mixing eucalyptus and mint. I also love lavender and lemon together!

    Also never ever shave with shaving cream! They make u go tghourh razors ten times faster, on purpose of course so u have to buy more faster. I switched to using conditioner or keihls makes a great shaving OIL. And when I am done I keep my razor in a little jar full of Olive oil, it prevents the blades from rusting which is really why u have to throw them out. I have been using the same razor for over a month and still super sharp!

  49. Mika:

    You need to make sure that you are at least washing your face eyeavdry with a mild face wash of some kind. This clears off any bacteria, dirt and dead skin cells that accumulate on your face throughout the day. I would just look for a basic eyeavdry face wash for normal skin (I think neutrogena makes something like that). Do not use any kind of face scrub, with scrubbing beads, as this may cause you to break out. Get a gentle foaming one. Also be sure to put on sunscreen eyeavdry to avoid damaging that naturally healthy skin. You could get a combo moisturizer with sunscreen.

  51. Dexter:

    Nope, just let your face get grimy and gross.Of course you need to have a skin care roiutne. That’s like saying “I’m in my 20s and don’t have bags under my eyes, do I need to use an eye cream?” You’re not doing it for your 20s, honey, you’re doing it for your 30s, 40s, 50s, etc.You will not have perfect skin forever. Your skin care roiutne doesn’t have to be super complicated; just use a mild, neutral cleanser followed by an SPF face cream and eye cream twice a day.

    I really aecappirte the reminder. The life lessons that most of us want our kids to learn are not experienced when we try to make everything easy. This is sometging my middle class family as aslo struggled with. I agree that children learn by example so we should expose them to life lessons and not only the gifts. The info in this post is something I will share during my workshops with parents as well as with friends. Kelli
