If you want to know the truth….

Look what I found? A gem I forgot to publish last month……….

Just ask your kids. If you can’t handle the truth, don’t ask.

Trust me on this one if you haven’t found this out for yourself.

Yesterday while lounging by the pool I was complaining about my weight (I’m ridiculous. I know. Weight isn’t important. It shouldn’t be a focus. Blah, blah, blah).

“I haven’t been to the gym once this summer. I’m pretty sure I’ve gained 5 lbs. I think I have more cellulite than I had before I stopped exercising.”

Or course, the answer I was hoping for from my husband was, “what are you talking about? You look great. Fantastic even. You’d never know you’ve had 5 kids. Don’t be silly.”
Even if it wasn’t true.

What I got was my child pipping in with the truth before my husband had the chance to fib to me.

“Um, mom? I did notice that your legs look a little flabby”.
Um, Thank you very little?

See? Lesson learned.

Note to self: If you can’t handle the truth, don’t ask. Don’t fish. Just do something about it.

One of these days, I WILL get back to the gym. In the meantime, I’ll be sure to be fully and completely self conscious when I’m in a bathing suit. How’s that for the truth?

P.S Don’t worry. My daughter assured me today that my legs look less flabby in this bathing suit than the one I was wearing yesterday.

Thanks? I think?

Note to self. THROW out the bathing suit I was wearing yesterday.

    Yes, I've had that kind of conversation before. I distinctly remember my 8 year old son saying, "Mom, I think that swimming suit is too small. I can see your bottom hanging out of it." Oh, yikes!

    Ouch. Reminds me of the time my daughter asked why my (very NON-pregnant) tummy was so big.

    Uh, yeah, I actually got the same thing when I was putting Tristan to bed last night. Ironic: Huge wake up call when going to bed. Hah.

    Thank God I already had it in my head to start back to exercising today because I have been slacking majorly.

    My four year old actually grabbed a bit of my stomach roll and asked what that was and if he was going to grow like that and that he hoped not b/c it was really weird-looking. Ouch.

    I am not sure what you are talking about! You look great! I did have one of my primary kids tell me that my legs were chubby. (I didnt even ask!!)

    Classic. My hubby says there is no way of answering that question safely without offending the one asking so we have a rule around the to never ask!

    Maybe a new swim suit, though. A little shopping always cheers me up!

    Baby steps…I'm going twice a week and plan on working my way up. Even if I don't succeed at losing those extra pounds I DO feel a lot better about myself!

    I'm sure you look great! But if you're ever in UT and feel like exercising and partying at the same time, come to my Zumba class! I've lost 22 pounds since May just doing ZUMBA! It's so much fun! I love teaching and helping people loose weight!

    Seriously? I see your profile pic and yes, I realize you aren't in a bathing suit, but still…I can't imagine that you have many issues in the weight department. And you definetely do not look like a mother of five.

    I would say fasting is deifnitely a fast weight loss strategy. My experience was shedding 6 pounds by 6 days juice fasting. I then continued with intermittent fasting (IF), aiming for one meal a day. I was doing it 3-4 times a week and lost altogether 20 pounds in six months. And my body weight has been stable for the past four years. I would say a one-week fasting + IF is a fast, economic and safe way to lose weight.

    There is a voice that is rising up witihn our nation that is calling for a return to simple New Testament Christianity in the Church. In the midst of today’s pressing problems, slick Sunday morning shows fail to deliver mid-week power.I don’t know about you but, I long for the day when our youth will once again be required to carry their bibles to church. Do we really need double jumbotrons in mid-sized churches that weaken our already lax ability to know our bibles?I say, nix the electronica and fast, pray and get the clear voice of God once again. Have we contemplated why Jesus didn’t come to the earth in 2009? Just think of all the technology he could have at his disposal!     I haven’t tried the fast, but I’m tired of? seeing ppleoe comment thinking its bad for you. Yes, you drink water and eat no food. But what about malnutrition? You take vitamins. And it’s not bad to sneak in 100% pure juice, like cranberry (antioxidants) or prune juice (helps bowels, therefore letting the water get toxins out faster). And you don’t just stop eating like that. You ease yourself in, and ease yourself out, but start eating healthy when done. There you go, non believers.
