Flower Crowns make the best summer and spring photo props ever.  I’ve fallen in love with how flower crowns look in braided and wavy hair and so I had to make one.  Surprisingly, they are easier to make than you’d imagine, and the best part is that they are completely customizable.  When you make the DIY Flower Crown, YOU pick the flowers, and you custom fit the crown.  It’s a win/win.  Here’s how.

DIY Flower Crown

DIY Flower Crown

DIY Flower Crown

Flower Crown Supplies:

crown garland

  • Silk Flowers (my stem came from Michael’s for $4.99)
  • Green stem wire (I got a pack of 12 at Michael’s for $1.99)
  • Green floral tape (Michael’s, around a buck)
  • Scissors
  • Wire cutters

Instructions for Making a DIY Flower Crown:

Flower Crown

1.  Get two pieces of stem wire and twist together two ends to make one long piece.  Then, measure around head and twist those ends together to make crown.  Cover ends with floral tape so you don’t have exposed pokey wire ends on your crown.

Flower Crown

2.  Cut sections of bloom with wire cutters.  I chose to cut about 4-5″ sections because that made the most sense with my flower choice.

flower crown

3.  Start attaching the flowers to the crown by twisting round the wire and attaching with floral tape.  Add new sections of flowers   until you are satisfied with your results! I staggered mine by about an inch each time.

3.  Enjoy!

A few months ago I discovered Duck Brand's Shelf Liners.  They pretty much changed the way I organized shelves and cupboards because suddenly I was introduced to a product that was not only easy to install, but could be re-aligned, didn't require any adhesive and could be wiped up with a snap.

Duck® Shelf Liners

I first tried out Duck Brand's Shelf Liner in my toy hauler in all of my cupboards and drawers.  They've continued to work like a charm even after several trips. The contents of my cupboards just don't move.  It's a beautiful, beautiful thing.  Even more beautiful is that it only took me a short period of time to put in the shelf liners.  Installing the liners need not be an exact science so you can really make the installation really quick and pain free! Most recently I organized my laundry room with the Duck® Shelf Liners.

Laundry Room Organization with #DuckShelfLiner

 #DuckShelfLiner

Now, it might not seem like lining my shelves would make much of a difference, but it makes a HUGE difference. My storage is extremely limited in my laundry room and my shelves are slippery and were getting scratched up, so lining them helped a ton.  The Duck Brand's Shelf Liner will help me preserve the life of my laundry organizing shelf while helping me keep the items ON the shelf without slipping off.  Plus, there was the added bonus of forcing me to take everything off the shelf and organize it while laying the liners. Installing the shelf liners was super easy and only took a few steps and minutes.

Installing Duck® Shelf Liners:

#DuckShelfLiner 1.  First, gather your materials.  You'll only need scissors, the Duck® Brand Liner you've selected and a tape measure so that you can measure your shelf. duck shelf liners

2.  Clean and clear your shelves. #DuckShelfLiner 3.  Next, cut your piece of Duck® Liner to the appropriate size.  You'll find that it cuts like a breeze.  Simply lay on shelf when it's the correct size.  You'll find that it "sticks" without any adhesive so no need to do anything else except align exactly how you want it.

4.  That's it!

 #DuckShelfLiner

5.  If you have any extra, you can use it to line another shelf in your house like I did!  {{smiling}}

Duck® Brand is onFacebook and Pinterest so be sure to check them out for tons of creative inspiration!  They also have several patterns so your options are not limited!

What projects will you be making that Duck® brand shelf liners would be perfect for?

FoodNetwork.com knows How to Make Delicious Recipes Perfect for Summer Cooking.  These two recipes are fabulous for the summer because they are easy and won’t overly heat up your home.  They include Juicy Grilled Cheeseburgers and Pulled Pork Sandwiches .  Happy Summer, y’all!

Juicy Grilled Burgers

Juicy Grilled Cheeseburgers These quarter-pound cheeseburgers are lightened up with 90-percent lean beef and just a half-ounce of Cheddar.  Served on wholesome whole wheat English muffins, you’ll never know they are lighter fare!

Juicy Grilled Cheeseburgers
Author:
Recipe type: Grilled
Cuisine: American
Prep time:
Cook time:
Total time:
Serves: 4

Ingredients
  • Canola oil or nonstick grilling cooking spray, for oiling the grates
  • 1 medium red onion, thinly sliced
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 4 whole wheat English muffins, split
  • 1 medium ripe tomato, cored and cut into 4 thick slices
  • 1 pound 90-percent lean ground beef
  • 2 ounces 50-percent reduced-fat sharp Cheddar, grated (about ½ cup)
  • Pickles, for serving, optional
Instructions
  1. Heat a grill to medium-high direct heat and lightly oil the grates using a paper towel soaked in canola oil or nonstick grilling cooking spray.
  2. Spread a 16-inch-long piece of nonstick aluminum foil on a cutting board (or mist a piece of regular aluminum foil with nonstick cooking spray). Top with the onions, ¼ teaspoon each salt and pepper and 1 tablespoon water. Bring two sides of the foil together, fold over twice to create a seal and then seal the remaining two ends. Put on the grill and cook for 12 minutes, flipping once. The onions should be tender with only a bit of charring. Carefully open the top of the foil to let all the steam out and continue to cook the onions, tossing, until browned and lightly charred, 3 minutes longer. Remove from the heat.
  3. While the onions cook, mix the ketchup and mustard together in a small bowl. Season with pepper and set aside.
  4. Lightly toast the English muffins on the grill and place one top and bottom on each of 4 plates. Spread some of the ketchup sauce on the bottom half of each muffin and top with a slice of tomato.
  5. Divide the beef into 4 patties about 4 inches in diameter and just under ½-inch thick. Sprinkle with a total of ½ teaspoon salt and ¼ teaspoon pepper. Place the burgers on the grill. Cook until the edges of the burgers are browning, 3 to 5 minutes, and then flip. Brush the burgers with the remaining ketchup sauce and evenly top with the shredded cheese. Cover the burgers with the grill lid or a large heatproof bowl and continue to cook until the cheese has melted and the burgers are still a bit pink on the inside, about 3 minutes more.
  6. Put one burger on top of the assembled muffin bottom and top with some of the grilled onions and the top of the muffin. Serve with pickles if desired.

How to Throw a Frozen Themed Birthday Party can be the easiest child themed party ever.  Of all the Themed Birthday Parties I’ve thrown, this was the easiest, because it only involved one event (ice skating) and a few cute inexpensive decorations to make a (dessert table)!  To throw a Frozen themed birthday party all you need is an ice skating venue, a cute banner, fabric, lots of cake stands and of course several themed desserts.  It’s easy peasy!

IMG_4487b.jpg

My birthday girl recently had a figure skating competition so I was able to reuse her prop (the door) and skating dress.  I love it when you can reuse things.  I’m thinking Halloween costume too!  {{snicker}}

Decorations

The decorations for a Frozen themed party is as simple as hanging fabric for a backdrop, draping it with a banner, displaying cake stands of various sizes and filling them with desserts.  I borrowed cake stands and used some that I already had at home.  I found the chalkboard Frozen banner online and paid a few dollars for the file to download.

“Marshmallow Pops”, by far the easiest dessert to ever make!  Here’s a tutorial to show you just how easy they are to make.

“Snowballs” or should I say “snow rings”?!  I couldn’t find powdered sugar donut holes so these mini donuts had to suffice.

Elsa Cookies

“Elsa Cookies”, cake mix cookies that can be made in a snap with this recipe.

Cupcakes, I bought the cupcakes and quickly decorated them with diy flags.  Here’s a quick tutorial to make your own using toothpicks, glitter washi tape (dollar bin at Target) and scissors.
