Directions for Making a Duct Tape Flower Pen:

First:  Gather your materials.  You’ll need 3 colors of duct tape, scissors and a pen to wrap for the duct tape flower pen.

Step 1:  Wrap pen with duct tape.  We used green duct tape because we wanted the pen to look like a flower stem.

Step 2:   Make a strip of tape about 2 inches long double sided (to do this, just get two pieces of tape and put them back to back, adhesive side facing each other), leaving about 1 cm of adhesive visible on the top and bottom.  Cut one edge of the adhesive off.

Step 3:    Then, cut strips into the tape about 3/4 – 1 cm apart.  Be sure that you only cut down to the sticky part of the tape, but do not cut through the tape.  It’s OK if your cuts are different lengths.  They don’t have to be perfect.

Step 4:  Wrap your pen with the fringe you just made.  If the fringe is too long, cut it to the length you like.

Step 5:  Make a strip of white tape double sided like you did above, but this one is longer and thinner.  It should only be about 1 inch thick (you can just fold over one piece of duct tape) and 6-8 inches long.  Leave 1 cm of adhesive visible.

Step 6:  Cut rounded petals out of the strip of tape.  Your strip should make about 8 petals.

Step 7:  Wrap petals around fringe on pen.  That’s it!  You are done!  Doesn’t it look great? Super easy, right?  Now give as a gift or get writing.

I love that this particular duct tape flower looks like a crocus.  It’s just so delicate and pretty and every time I use mine I smile.
