Cherry Sugar Scrub Recipe {homemade gift idea}

Cherry sugar scrubs are easy to make, package adorably and are good for your skin!  Homemade scrubs are one of the best gifts ever!  They are my new latest craze {as you know} and after the recent success of my Lemon Sugar Scrub for Mother’s Day gifts, and my Coffee Sugar Scrub for Teacher Appreciation I decided to go all out and try 6 more fruity sugar scrubs!  So, here’s an easy-peasy, cherry sugar scrub recipe (with FREE printable tag) that’s perfect for gift giving!

Cherry Sugar Scrub

I’ve been making a lot of sugar scrubs in little batches, and this recipe filled up the fun shaped bottle I found at Michael’s.  I’ve had so much fun finding interesting containers to put sugar scrubs in!  The recipe is super simple.  I love that sugar scrubs can be used on the hands, feet and body.  I like to use sugar scrubs in the shower because they are such great exfoliators and the hot water dissolves the sugar crystals before they can be too abrasive.

Cherry Sugar Scrub Recipe

Mix Together {this recipe makes about 1 1/2 cups prepared}

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup olive oil (or canola oil will work fine!), plus 1 TBS
  • 2-3 drops of cherry aromatherapy oil
  • approximately 10 drops of red soap colorant (I purchased a pack of 4 colors at Michaels for $4.00)

Decorate Jar

I used embellishments I had at home to decorate the jar.  A ribbon and twine I had in my craft supply closet were used to tie on the “Cherry Sugar Scrub” tag.  The tag was designed by Tricia Rennea exclusively for Seven Clown Circus, and can be downloaded for free!  The sugar scrub was super easy to make and the whole project took me a total of 20 minutes including tying on the printable!  It’s THAT easy.

That’s it!  The Cherry Sugar Scrub is read to use or give as a gift!

    I wanted to make the coffee scrub, but got to thinking: Do I want coffee grounds in the drain? Anyone care to let me know about this? I use the brown sugar since it dissolves as would the plain sugar, but worried about coffee grounds in a septic tank.

    @Amy: here’s the link to a cherry aromatherapy oil on Amazon that gets good reviews. I’m just about to order it to make this scrub!

    Could you tell me the purpose of the soap colorant? I want to make a vanilla scrub following the same recipe, would I have to get white soap colorant or is that purely decorative? Thanks!

    I want to make the fruit scrubs but would like to use real fruit such as strawberry and blueberry but how long would these keep? Thanks

    This is just a fragrance oil, it is not an essential oil, it just smells like cherry. If you want a pure carrier oil made from cherry there is a cherry kernel carrier oil (it had no smell though, most carrier oils are like this).

    There is no cherry essential aromatherapy oil. Fragrance oils have no therapeutic value to your skin, they just smell nice :)

    I’m looking to make this scrub, but the aromatherapy oils I can find is only for burning and actually says it it a skin irritant so where can I find some safe for skin, need it by tomorrow so I can’t order online! Help
