Wordful Wednesday – Capitol Building and Library of Congress

Wordful Wednesday 411Wordful Wednesday is like Wordless Wednesday, except WITH words. It’s for those of us that just cannot be wordless, no matter how much we try. Add my Wordful Wednesday badge to your post (right side bar under “WW”) if you really want to make me happy, and then add your post link to the linky below. Easy peasy.

While we were in Washington DC we visited the Capitol Building and the Library of Congress.  I should tell you right up front that the Library of Congress was my favorite building in DC.  I’m not sure if is the bibliophile in me or just experiencing one of the “world’s largest collection of knowledge, culture, and creativity” all in one place that just spoke to me, but I LOVED it.  The interior really took my breath away!  If you ever have the chance to visit, you must!

See what I mean about the interior?  Everything about it is just beautiful.  The most amazing thing is that artisans did the work for free.  Yes. Free.

Our local Representative Judy Chu got us passes for a tour of the Capitol Building.  The tour was great because it’s not to long and one gets to the rotunda, which is pretty darn spectacular.  It’s really neat to hear the history of the Capitol Building and walk where so much of our history has taken place!

Have you been to Washington DC?  If so, what is your favorite building?

This week seemed like a lot of traveling going on as people try to squeak out some fun these last few weeks of summer.  We got to experience Chicago with Down Home Traveler.  We hit Virginia Beach with the Stavish Clan.  And we also checked out some of the temples of Utah with Better in Bulk.

  1. I went when I was in junior high school..with my grandparents. And it was for like a day. I don’t think we visited any of the important buildings or did anything cool.

It was fun following along on this adventure on instagram!

  2. I’ve never been to Washington DC. Looks like lovely places to tour.

  3. I love spending time in DC! Believe it or not, in the 15 years I’ve lived here, I’ve never been inside the Library of Congress!

  4. How fun! I have never been to DC, but I know I would love it! As a librarian, I would definitely have to visit the library of congress!
