Branch Chandelier Photo Collage {DIY Decor}

Branch Chandelier Photo Collages are a lot easier to make than you’d imagine, and quicker too.  The most important items you’ll need are the photos, fishing line and the branch!  Once you’ve secured those items, it’s all about slapping on some mod podge and assembling your chandelier.  I have mine hanging above my desk and I just adore it.  It’s the perfect Fall Art Project that I can use year round!

Supplies Needed:

  • branch
  • fishing line
  • mod podge
  • sponge
  • photos
  • colored card stock + adhesive to stick photos to card stock
  • paper cutter
  • cup hooks to hang in ceiling (I had some out in the garage left over from my DIY Clothes Hanger Jewelry Project}, but basically, they are little c-shaped hooks with a screw at the end.  You can buy about 20 for $2.00.

Branch Chandelier Photo Collage Step-by-Step:

Step 1:  Decide what pictures you’d like to use in your collage and then edit them.  I used PicMonkey‘s {free editing website-it’s my favorite} “Urbane” effect for my pictures.  Then have them printed in the sizes you’d like to use.  I used an assortment of 8×10, 5×7 and 4×6, and I had them printed with a matte finish, not glossy.

Step 2:  Find the perfect branch.  I went to a local park and found 4 or 5 branches on the ground that I thought would work.  You want a dead branch, not green-don’t go hacking up anyone’s tree.  🙂   Once I got home I decided which one I’d ultimately use.

Step 3:  Matte your photos on desired card stock.

Step 4:  Mod Podge your photos.  I used a regular old sponge and wiped one layer of mod podge on the pictures so that they’d appear to have brush strokes on them when it dried, like a canvas.

Step 5:  Let the Mod Podge dry and then punch and then it’s time to start assembling/hanging!

Step 6:  Screw the c-cup’s into the ceiling and then hang the branch with fishing line at desired height. Just use regular old knots!

Step 7:  Now you have to assemble your pictures as you desire and then hang them to your branch.

Step 8:  Now that your project is complete, ENJOY it.  And watch your kids faces when they get home from school and try to figure out how the branch is suspended from midair.  🙂
