Blogging Connections

When I first started blogging I had a hand full of readers.

I knew all of them.  They were comprised of family, friends and other parents of monoamniotic twins.

It never occurred to me in the beginning that others would find and read my blog and engage in dialogue with me.

When that happened, it was a huge bonus.

One of the things I love most about blogging is the interaction with others it affords me, and it makes me laugh to think that in the beginning I wasn’t even aware of that perk.

Yesterday I received a package in the mail from New Zealand.  From one of my bloggy friends.  Just because.

It made me feel super special.  It made my whole family feel special because she sent all of us something, including my husband.  How thoughtful is that?  She hand picked and individually wrapped a present for every member of my family.  Sue has never met me, yet she took the time to do something special for us because she knew it would make us happy.  You know, this isn’t the first act of kindness she’s shown me.  When a friend of mine was dying of cancer and I didn’t know how to act, she emailed me and shared personal experiences with it.

I didn’t plan on singling Sue out in case it embarrasses her, but I wanted to use this as an example how how blogging and the friendships we make doing so can enrich our lives.  It’s a beautiful thing when others will go out of their way to leave a kind word, words of encouragement, or just a funny comment to make you laugh.  You all do this for me, and I can’t tell you how much it is appreciated.

P.S.  Sue is guest posting here tomorrow, and her post is heartfelt and a bit of a tear-jerker.  Be sure to check back.  You won’t want to miss this one.

  11. I couldn’t agree more. I started with less than 12 readers, mostly family. This is a whole new world and I love the interactions. That is so incredibly sweet of Sue. I get a sweet email and it makes my day, so I can only imagine what a package would do… lol

  17. Wow. I’m so looking forward to getting to know different, wonderful people from all over the world– that I would otherwise never meet if not for blogging. People who, if they lived in the same neighborhood would totally be chillin’ with me. It’s cool to not be limited by my geographic location–there are so many kindred spirits out there just waiting to make a connection.

  22. I know what you mean! I’ve met so many great, FUNNY people through my blogging and even thought we’ve never met in real life, I know that if we ever did, we’d have a wonderful time. I feel like I’ve known them for a very long time, instead of just a couple months. What a treat!

  24. I’ve only been doing this three months now, and I’m shocked at all the connections made. People have really reached out (people like you!!!) to encourage and connect, and it has been such a positive experience.

The only downside is not being able to hang out with all these cool chicks IRL. We need a bloggy bar. 🙂

  27. Too true Angie. And in the spirit of how true that really is, did you know I am going to visit Kacey this coming weekend of Chronicles of a Mommy? Yes indeed. It’s amazing how close people can become without ever meeting. That’s the beauty of women. They feel so much with their hearts they don’t need much else.
