Sugar scrubs are easy to make, package adorably and are affordable. Quite simply, they are the perfect homemade gift! They are my new latest craze and I’ve decided that a Lemon Sugar Scrub should be on every woman’s “want” list.

Making sugar scrubs are so easy it should be illegal. The best part is that KIDS can make them for moms. Or grandmas. Or aunts. Whomever. With Mother’s Day coming up, that’s important, right? Plus, the sugar scrubs can be used on the hands, feet and body. I love to use sugar scrubs in the shower because they are such great exfoliators and the hot water dissolves the sugar crystals before they can be too abrasive.
Lemon Sugar Scrub Recipe

Mix Together {this recipe fills a bit more than TWO 16 oz Mason Jars} ~ I filled 4 round tins with this recipe.
- 5 1/8 Cups of Sugar
- 2 Cups of Olive Oil
- Add 7-8 Tablespoons of Lemon Juice
- Spoon into desired containers {it smells so good!}

- Decorate Jar or tin ~ or don’t, depending on whether or not you are giving it as a gift or whether or not you want to make it look pretty. {I found a set of lemon note cards in the dollar bin at Michael’s and cut out the lemon image for the tag. I’m sure you could find a free lemon printable online and get the same effect. I tied it on with twine and that’s it. You can see that just a little bit of embellishment went a long way in making the tin look dressed up but not too fancy schmancy!}
That’s it! The Lemon Sugar Scrub is read to use or give!

Seriously, would you have ever guessed that making a sugar scrub could be that easy?
*Just like with peanut butter, the oil will separate and the sugar will settle on the bottom if it sits for prolonged periods, so if you don’t use regularly, be sure to stir before use!
*I scoured the web for the easiest sugar scrub recipes and then based on their recipes made my own.
**The scent goes away after a few days, so next time I’ll use a few drops of essential lemon oil.

What a great idea for Mother’s Day gifts! I think I’ll have my little man work on these this weekend for the grandmas.
I like those tins, perfect for this kind of thing. Did you find those at Michels also?
Great recipe. Now I’ll get a lemon soap recipe to go with it and I think it would be awesome gifts.
Cleaver idea with the tags and twine. I do really love the tins – where did you find those?

I have a thing for scrubs too and lemon is my FAVORITE scent, so I’ll be making this ASAP. Also, I’m totally thinking this will be perfect for my mom, sis, mother in law and sister in law for mother’s day … perfect timing on this! Really, can’t thank you enough for the idea
I love making my own body scrubs…. can’t wait to try this one.
This would be a great gift!
i just made this.. i used real lemons for the lemon juice.. did you? all i can smell is the olive oil. i added a little lemon extract and lemon juice concentrate.. but still just olive oil. any suggestions? i’m looking to give as gifts today. thanks!
thanks!! the essential oil worked
a few drops of citrus oil (they didn’t have lemon) and it was yummy smelling!
Use canola oil. There’s no scent, and it moisturizes just well.
Probably an okay way to use Canola Oil because I would never cook with it…
You migh try grapeseed oil…
I am a massage therapist in Minneapolis- i have made scrubs and have found that Safflower oil- almond oil or sunflower oil works great without the odor.
I also make these but instead of lemon if you want a different scent just use essential oils ($6 on amazon). You only need a few drops and you can make any scent you want. My favorites are mixing eucalyptus and mint. I also love lavender and lemon together!
can you use canola oil with the lemon or coffee scrub?
Thanks, Tami
will orange juice work instead of lemon juice?
This scrub looks terrific. I’ll try it soon with the lemon essential oil. Sounds refreshing for summer. Thanks for the recipe!
This looks great.
